@jesse_history Do you mean the new arguments or older books? I think many cling to older books even when the argument is weaker. In some cases the modern works are trying to be different for the sake of it. overall I think only reading one (old or new) is limiting. A range of reading is best

I wonder why books written on WW1 and WW2 in the 1960s still have such a hold on us. Reminded recently by history buffs singing the praises of Shirer, and gushing about Horne - but have read nothing written since.

@QuintinLake Best of luck. I once marched along Pedders way as part of an American Civil War reenactment unit.... it made sense at the time. I learned a lot about long distance marching as a unit of Victorian era soldiers!

@Gravmadboris @clark_aviation The RAF has several aircraft (manned and drones) which fulfill the Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) role which would probably be the modern equivalent to PR units which would be used alongside satellites
