We are a not-for-profit architectural preservation organization that captures and presents local history from our center at the Saranac Laboratory Museum.
WE’RE OPEN! Come pay us a visit! We’re open our regular hours, Tuesday through Saturday, 10AM - 5PM. We can’t wait to have you back at the Saranac Laboratory Museum!

#ImageOfTheWeek: It looks like March will come in like a lion, like this photo taken on 3/8/1909. The caption on the back reads, “Camp… opp. Benj. Hall’s Lodge.” The owner of the camp is not known, but it is possible that it was on Oseetah Lake. [HL Collection, 2021.1.46.]
#ImageOfTheWeek: This snowshoeing snapshot was taken 112 years ago tomorrow! Tuberculosis patient Fletcher Durbin and friends went on a trek to Pine Pond for a snowy picnic. We hope you're getting out while the sun is shining!
Happy Carnival! We had an amazing time this weekend returning to march in the parade and “take the cure” in the Roman baths! We loved seeing your faces as we made our way through town with the @cureporchonwheels. Thanks to our amazing volunteer bathers for their enthusiasm!
We’re not choosing sides here, but the Eagles *are* the only team in #TheBigGame tonight with Saranac Lake history! Learn more: https://t.co/qtkf9cvwJK
We hope everyone enjoys the #SuperBowl!
Our road trip adventure is over and we have returned to the museum with the new collection! Thanks to everyone!
We haven’t quite reached our goal to help us process these new donations and make them available to the public, so please donate if you can! https://t.co/3eIpe7b6Sb
#TuberculosisThursday Monday was #NationalHandwritingDay, which made us think of all of the interesting kinds of handwriting we see when transcribing postcards from TB patients! https://t.co/VmPUb5WIl5!

#ImageOfTheWeek: Yesterday marked #NationalPieDay, so how better to celebrate than with a pie contest? These judges at an unidentified occasion definitely took their jobs seriously. Do you know what event this contest might have been part of?

It will also help control humidity to safeguard our book collection. This project is made possible by a Franklin County Energize NY Grant and a Special Legislative Initiative Grant from @jonesnyassembly to support improvements to the Saranac Laboratory Museum. Thank you!
#MuseumMonday: It’s been a busy week here at the museum, as our friends at Cornerstone Plumbing and Heating have been installing air conditioning in the John Black Room library. The new system will supply energy efficient cooling and heating in the shoulder seasons.
#ImageOfTheWeek: We are having some work done at the Saranac Laboratory Museum this week, so we have construction on the brain! This photograph shows workers assembling the frame of the new Harrietstown Town Hall in 1928. [2022.17.8.15. Gift of the Rice and Duquette Families.]
Our curling mini exhibit is now open! We’re celebrating curling in honor of the FISU World University Games. This mini exhibit is included in the cost of regular admission.
#ImageOfTheWeek: Who else is excited to watch some curling matches at the Civic Center during the World University Games? Curling has a long history here in Saranac Lake, and was played both indoors and out. Learn more: https://t.co/uAPNM8XaEk

#ImageOfTheWeek: It's almost New Year's Eve, so grab your friends and get ready to slide into 2023! [Historic Saranac Lake Collection, 2020.2.67. Gift of John and Cece Durbin.]
This is a #TuberculosisThursday reminder that it's not too late to get out your holiday cards! This 1921 advertisement for Davis Quality Christmas cards came from William F. Kollecker's photo and stationery store on Main Street. Learn more: https://t.co/7ICzaSsvit
#ImageOfTheWeek: It's nearly Christmas! This photograph shows Baker Chapel on the Trudeau Sanatorium grounds decorated for Christmas 1930. Have a safe and happy holiday!

#ImageOfTheWeek: It sounds like there's a big snowstorm on the way this weekend, so make sure you're prepared with your warmest coat! Caroline Baisden, who was at Trudeau Sanatorium for treatment in the 1930s, is seen here bundled up on the Sanatorium grounds. [2020.10.1.45]
