It is a rat! This rat, with a stomach full of chewed document, was used as evidence for the poor conditions records used to be kept in, which led to the Public Records Act and the creation of the Public Record Office which is now The National Archives!
I am “doing my bit” this week and visiting my “in-laws”. Sadly my mother-in-law never knew her Father and has never seen a photograph of him, due to the wonders of #Genealogy although I haven’t been able to find a picture of her Father, I have found two pictures of her Grandad
