Newcastle's @litandphil was founded in 1793 as a 'conversation club', with its current building created in the 1820s. It's the largest independent library outside of London.
A wombat on display at @GNM_Hancock is believed to be the earliest object in the collection, & was the first complete wombat specimen to reach Europe.
Though built to a 1930s design, Newcastle's Baltic Flour Mill didn't open until 1950 due to the interruption of World War I. Decades later it was transformed into Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in 2002.
The Black Gate was added to @NewcastleCastle c1250, with a drawbridge at the front & back. It was later used as a private home, a pub, & a slum tenement.
The #BeyondLBD exhibition at @NtlMuseumsScot looks at how the little black dress has evolved from a wardrobe staple, to reflect cultural & political changes.
Designed to reflect the amazing objects inside, the @britishmuseum building emulated classical Greek architecture, with columns, a triangular pediment, & huge steps.
The 2003 statue of Sixties icon #BillyFury at Liverpool's Albert Dock was commissioned by his fan club after several years of fundraising, & was donated to @NML_Muse
Egyptian-inspired 19thC stained glass window designed by W. & G. Audsley, architects & designers who produced books on ornament & decorative motifs. On display at Liverpool's @walkergallery.
