My #WorldHistory students were very creative during their #WWI unit! From creating cartoons to show the causes of the war to writing letters from the trenches as WWI soldiers, they crushed it 😊 @SevernRunAACPS
I am so proud of my #worldhistory students! My #AP students researched people from the Revolutions unit and met with others in character. And my #honors and #cotaught students researched individuals who resisted imperialism to create #AVID one-pagers 😊
Last week my honors world students embodied Enlightenment thinkers in a speed dating assessment and my standard world students researched a female revolutionary of their choice in a one-pager assessment. They crushed it! @SevernRunAACPS
My regular and honors #WorldHistory students completed a speed dating assessment where they did a deep dive on someone from the Renaissance or the Protestant Reformation and then met with others in character. It was a lot of prep work, but they did really well! @SevernRunAACPS
Today my #WorldHistory students started the Protestant Reformation. When I told my students Henry VIII wanted to divorce Catherine so he could marry his pregnant mistress Anne, y'all, the gasps! They were shocked!
My #APWorldHistory students closed out the first semester strong with their speed dating assessment! They did a deep dive on an historical figure and then met with others as that person. They were well researched and creative! @OldMillHSAACPS
Today at the Mill we celebrated Halloween (Social Studies dressed up as Will Ferrell characters) and wished the best dude we know a happy retirement! #weneedmorecowbell@OldMillHSAACPS
@willtragert @HarvardMagazine And universities are exacerbating the problem. Recently, WVU announced cuts in music, world languages, linguistics and creative writing programs. Brandeis is also getting rid of their doctoral program in musicology and music composition. They're responding to the market.
@willtragert @HarvardMagazine No, you didn't. But this diagram isn't saying kids aren't getting degrees or jobs. It's just saying they're getting them in different things. My takeaway is that schools need to more evenly prepare kids for success in all fields; to include the humanities.
A triumphant return to in-person for @AACountySchools curriculum academy! Honored to work with 4 teams of talented teachers turned writers! Women’s History, LGBTQ History, Local African American History and U.S. Government are 🔥🔥 for 23-24! @SocStudiesAACPS
