🚨 Action needed: Protect the correct name of Shri Durgiana Mandir, Amritsar.

A user edit on Google Maps temporarily renamed this historic Hindu temple (dedicated to Maa Durga, rebuilt 1921, foundation by Madan Mohan Malaviya) to “Shri Darbar Sahib”.

That name belongs to the separate Sikh shrine Sri Harmandir Sahib nearby. The listing has since shown the correct name again, but we must ensure it stays accurate.

Wrong names confuse pilgrims, distort heritage, and create unnecessary friction.
What you can do:

1. Open Google Maps → search Shri Durgiana Mandir → Suggest an edit → set name to “Shri Durgiana Mandir” and note the official website.

2. Email the formal correction request (template in comments / reply) to [email protected], CC the temple committee ([email protected]), DC Amritsar ([email protected]) and CP Amritsar ([email protected]).

Accurate maps protect heritage. Let’s keep the record straight.

17.10.1992- Sector 7, Chandigarh- At 11 in the night, 2 Khalistani Sikh terrorists fired indiscriminately at home of Head Constable Sh. Raj Kumar, gunman of Sh. S.S.Saini SSP Chandigarh. In the firing, his wife Mrs. Neelam was killed on spot and his 1 year old daughter Shikha passed away in hospital due to injuries. Sh. Raj Kumar was seriously injured.

Village Jhabbal (Tarn Taran)- Khalistani Sikh terrorists kidnapped 7 Hindus of one family at gun point and when they were taking them to a secluded place, one Sh. Raj Kumar managed to escape and informed Police who chased the terrorists but before that terrorists had hanged Sh. Trilok s/o Kartar to death. On seeing police, terrorists fired at remaining Hindus killing S/Sh. Badrinath and Baz Singh.
