Found today that during the Northern Expedition, the Chinese nationalists used a Frère Jacques-based song as an anthem for the Republic, thus satisfying my long search for a polyphonic national anthem

@lauriewired "One should say “the chicken’s egg.” If one merely says “the egg,” the topic is exhausted, and the world becomes naked. (...) If they find out, they might want to force it to become rectangular. The danger is not for the egg, it wouldn’t become rectangular."
Blaise Pascal was born exactly 402 years ago today.
In 1644, at just 20 years old, Pascal built the first mechanical calculator - the Pascaline - to help his father with business accounting
@XorDev Here's an interesting twist ("Concreção 7959" by Luiz Sacilotto). Creating 4 regions w/ opposite colors creates these lines that balance the repetition and seem, at least to me, to shine a little
@poetengineer__ Yeah but it's not so cool without a challenge
Btw I'm studying a lot of Hegel now too because you mentioned Negarestani and Intelligence and Spirit. Might write some stuff with how it relates to games as a form of expression
@poetengineer__ those from the generative scene? Visual stuff, interesting examples, philosophical considerations, relation to other areas (eg computation and game theory), I considered talking about all of these, but some might be too technical or not interesting for the community
@poetengineer__ Thanks, and sorry for the typos 😅
Btw, this reminded me of a series of blog posts I wanted to do, called "Topology for Artists". The project got too big and eventually I abandoned it-- but now might give it a try. Any tips for what might interest artists the most, especially...
@NegativeVibrat1 Of course it is, but saying "it's the sum of all arts" isn't a good argument at all. This is a flat perspective, like if an art was a mathematical function of the forms it incorporates. A dialectical perspective is more appropriate: games suspend/aufheben the forms they consume.

@import_robs Brabo! Se quiser referências ou coisa do tipo pode mandar DM. Eu ia fazer uma post num blog sobre isso, mas daí acabou virando uma série gigante sobre "topologia pra artistas" que até hoje nunca escrevi nada de fato 🤡
@poetengineer__ any relation to top. spaces. This is analogous to the transition from classical to quantum mechanics: instead of studying the space of observables (X) directly, we study operators acting on them (C(X)), and this in turns open a new world with fascinating phenomena
@poetengineer__ satisfy some interesting properties (they're C* algebras), and there are many correspondences between topological properties of X and algebraic properties of C(X). Non-comm. geo. proposes then studying C* algebras and their "topological"/"geometrical" properties independent of...
