Hey everyone, I need some help. If possible, please share this.
Running therun dot gee gee has been an amazing passion project for 4 years. It’s always been 100% free, ad-free, and I never sell your data. I love building new features for this community and I have so many more ideas to grow the site.
However, supporter count is steadily declining while the site is growing faster than ever (as you can see below! 35 million attempts... damn). It’s reached a point where I'm paying out of pocket to keep it online, which isn't sustainable for me long-term.
If you find value in the site and are able, please consider supporting via Patreon or direct donation. If you can't donate, a retweet helps more than you know to reach those who can.
Thank you for being part of this journey. I want to keep it going for a long time!
Everything you need to know about our media is summed up in these Olympics.
Journalists grill American athletes about a "rising fascism" in the United States.
Meanwhile an American who takes millions of dollars to ski for an actual authoritarian communist dictatorship with concentration camps and zero free speech is treated like a beautified celebrity.
This is who our media is.
"I'd rather we ally with CHINA than the UNITED STATES"
This British Woman says possibly the dumbest thing in Question Time History.
This is what happens when you have a failing education system that promotes Marxism and a leftist media
Clearly she's as dumb as a box of rocks
#HongKong has recorded over 40,000 invalid ballots – or 3.12 per cent of all votes cast in the geographical constituencies – during Sunday’s “patriots only” legislative elections, a new high since the 1997 Handover.

Urging blank/protest ballots is illegal. Casting one is not.
TO WESTERN MEDIA: don’t just report that the voter turnout rate in yesterday’s “patriots only” Hong Kong LegCo elections was “better” than that of 2021:
1. Fewer votes were cast yesterday than in 2021 so the higher turnout rate is a result of there being fewer registered voters since 2021; and
2. This turnout rate is still a lot lower than back when LegCo elections were semi-competitive.
The Hong Kong National Security Office has announced that in targeting “fake news” and “smears” over the Tai Po fire, it has arranged to speak with local and foreign news organisation journalists and heads “in accordance with law”.
Just pure insanity.
According to the latest data, 42 percent of people in Hong Kong’s prisons are now on remand (unconvicted and presumed innocent)—a new record.

After deadly fire, HK authorities showed it has adopted a crisis-management playbook that the CCP has relied on since the Tiananmen massacre in 1989. My latest https://t.co/jIuv2AQsjE
An influencer in Hong Kong apparently silenced, not talking to foreigners — after the Beijing and Hong Kong governments took a tougher line on comments over the fire
When the fire first happened, apart from a few sensationalist overseas-based HK YouTube influencers, most activists (myself included) actually asked for everyone to focus on rescue, helping the displaced and mourning the dead, and leave questions of accountability to another time. Overseas activists generally did not want any discussion of “political” aspects of the disaster to detract from rescue, relief and mourning.
But then the following happened rapidly which changed things:
- The Government rushed to blame bamboo scaffolding before investigating anything.
- The Chief Executive decided to thank Xi Jinping rather than the firefighters.
- Government-backed volunteers were caught being only interested in photo opportunities for propaganda purposes while ordinary citizens were busy taking things into their own hands and delivering help to the displaced efficiently.
- Government-backed volunteers then started working with the Government and the Police to kick out citizen volunteers while also trying to commandeer their supplies.
- State-friendly media outlets started flooding the zone with “heartwarming” stories about Government efforts, reminding HK people of the insensitive Mainland Chinese propaganda practice of “treating mourning as celebration” (喪事當喜事辦).
- Even while HK is still in mourning, both Beijing and HK decided to treat all calls for thorough investigation and accountability as national security threats, and started arresting people merely for calling for things that are no different to what Grenfell Tower survivors asked for.
- The Government decided not to launch a statutory independent commission of inquiry with full powers to compel production of documents and giving of evidence, opting for a “review committee” with no powers.
So, no, it’s not “external hostile forces” that “use the disaster to destabilise HK” (以災亂港), it’s the muppets in Beijing and HK Government that are doing so.
The bodies haven’t even been fully identified and the CCP’s mouthpieces are already back to their usual bullshit.
If helping your own somehow violates national security, then maybe that nation shouldn’t exist.
The arrest of the student who launched a petition over the deadly Tai Po fire shows how little free speech #HongKong really has. The CCP tolerates mourning, but anyone who dares to seek accountability or hold criticism is treated as a "national security" threat and crushed.
3 days after the fire outbreak, Hong Kong National Security Police arrested a student who initiated an online petition with 4 demands:
‘1. Keep supporting affected residents & ensure proper rehousing
2. Set up an independent inquiry into the fire, incl. suspected collusion
(1/3)
The fire disaster in Hong Kong is a big test of whether there is any space for public advocacy left in the city. So far, it seems not: a student who organized a mild petition calling for official accountability has been arrested.
The Hong Kong fires is a political story, not a bamboo tragedy. It is about what happens when institutions are no longer accountable because of the erosion of the rule of law. When a government focuses on controlling the people, not serving them. When civil society is crushed.
Hong Kong’s CCP puppets so terrified of civil society that they will not even let people assist fire victims, let alone demand to know why so many people died in a preventable tragedy.
There are no investigations so far suggesting the scaffolding caused the fire. The bamboo angle has been widely used by state media in China. When global outlets adopt this framing uncritically, it distracts the public from questions of corruption & accountability.
