We met with Ms. Oprah Winfrey to discuss the transition of the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls’ assets to the Gauteng Department of Education at the end of the 2027 academic year. This transition will ensure that the Academy’s legacy of academic excellence, leadership development, and expanding opportunities through education continues to benefit future generations of learners.

In line with the original partnership agreement, the residential campus will conclude its role following the completion of the 2027 academic year and will be transferred to the Gauteng Department of Education. Current learners will complete their education with uninterrupted support, ensuring a seamless transition while preserving the Academy’s enduring impact.

We commend Ms Winfrey for her commitment, compassion and investment in the education of young South African girls; Her contribution extends far beyond the walls of the academy and will be remembered for years to come.

I don't usually share much about my life around the farm, nor do I share much about myself other than making snarky jokes and being annoying. Today marks 21 years since I lost my boys when a drunk driver decided to steal them away from my wife and I. I've never been the same again. My life is my routine these days and I make it through every day in part because of the banter on here, but also because I know that what I do in real life serves the community - I'm a cabbage farmer for those who don't know me, and I love it.

Today someone told me that I seem like a good person and I don't know how to explain it, but I feel like I have some ego-boosted energy for another day. Thank you kind soul!

To everyone out there who needs to hear a kind word. Know this - you are more than enough; you are capable; you are able; you are can do whatever you put your mind to; and finally you are human! Never forget that! ❤️
