I voted for Gayton McKenzie (& the PA) because he seemed to be doing good, impactful work in the Karoo. He posted his work regularly - like Dr Nasiphi Moya is doing currently in Tshwane.

I had hope that he would do more community-level work with greater power in parliament. I gave him one vote & gave ActionSA one vote.

After the elections, McKenzie became imbongi (a praise singer) & a vocal defender of Cyril Ramaphosa & the ANC.

He has gone back on his promises & today even speaks ill of ordinary SAns crying out about illegal foreigners, after he jumped & screamed "abaHambe" on stage.

If I supported Ramaphosa the way he does, I could've voted for the ANC, but I didn't. The ANC is corrupt, hates SAns & Ramaphosa is the worst president the country has had.

I'm very disappointed in Gayton McKenzie. I'm very disappointed in the PA.

At the time, it seemed like a good decision to vote for Gayton based on his work & where he said he wanted to put in necessary work. He's done a 180 since joining parliament & becoming a minister.

I'm sorry for voting for the PA & giving them power. I will not vote for them again. 🙏🏽

Now... we hold our breath to see if/when ActionSA will also disappoint us... coz seemingly all politicians serve their funders & not their voters nor ordinary SAns.

South Africans are in kak. We need non-racial "Afriforums" run by ppl like Vuyo Zungula, Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma & Dr Nasiphi Moya. Inde lendlela ✊🏽

It is profoundly heartbreaking to witness another surge of xenophobic violence in #SouthAfrica this week. Hundreds have marched on Parliament, thousands of families have been displaced, and lives have been tragically cut short.

These include at least five Ethiopians killed earlier in the attacks, and five Mozambicans who died in Mossel Bay. Thousands more are now fleeing for their lives.

To see South Africa turn to xenophobia is a tragic betrayal of the country's struggle for independence and freedom. African nations stood united to dismantle apartheid. Ethiopia proudly supported "Madiba," Nelson Mandela, in 1962 and issued him a passport so he could travel the continent. Other countries helped in many ways, including with political and financial support.

Disagreements and grievances must be addressed by the justice system and the rule of law, never through vigilante violence and collective punishment.

South Africa deserves better. Africa deserves better.

Stop the hate. Protect the vulnerable. Uphold our shared humanity.

Magistrate Mangosi has denied Takunda Mhuka bail, citing him as a flight risk. Ironically, Mhuka was arrested while attempting to report an assault at Waterfalls Police Station. Since then, ZANU PF-aligned politicians have filed counter-charges of malicious damage to property, politicizing the matter and forcing the Law and Order division to intervene. This represents a total breakdown of the rule of law, where the justice system is wielded as a political weapon. The situation mirrors that of @DougColtart who was assaulted and his attackers remain at large. The 1980 promise of independence is now hollow, replaced by a dictatorship striving to outdo the Smith regime. ZANU PF officials now operate with total impunity, shielded from the reach of the law. Mhuka will appear in court on 24 April. Lawyers will file an appeal at the High Court. Mhuka was smiling behind bars, demonstrating his unshakable resolve in the face of injustice!
