“Pero ella parecía feliz” “ella no se veía incómoda” “se nota que lo estaba disfrutando” “pudo haber dicho algo” váyanse bien a la verga, son un asco de seres humanos y espero que se pudran en el infierno todo aquel que defiende a violadores
Sexual abuse can manifest as hyper sexuality. Someone who was assaulted sexually may use sex to regain control, or to even punish themselves. It's a trauma response but people will be quick to label it as promiscuity. Sexual abuse changes the nervous system and it’s well documented in trauma literature.
When i was raped in college I didnt report it mainly because before I even got the chance to, a mutual "friend" of mine and the guy who did it reached out to the university to tell them I was lying and starting drama and was planning to "defame" his friend. He then went on- (1/)
I was raped at 18 by a male friend. We smoked weed and drank. I was stuck to the couch and couldn’t physically move from being so fucked up. He climbed on top and I said no multiple times. I just graduated high school. There was no fighting him off. This was my friend. He didn’t care that I told him no. He took advantage and then raped me. Rape is fucking rape.
After that day, I refused to allow myself to be alone intoxicated around men. No matter where I am, if I’m not aware and conscious of my surroundings, I do not feel safe. I don’t feel safe around men because I couldn’t even trust my own friend enough not to rape me. This is not how women should live day to day. It’s wrong.
Notice how all the excitement dies down the second the man can't overpower her?? They're never cheering for the fight, they just wanted to watch a woman get hurt. Men always be messing with women and then wanna act like victims after they get their ass handled.
I've seen multiple women today talk about being relentlessly pressured into sex they did not want with the replies being full of men hurling abuse at them for considering it rape. men refuse to accept that coercion is rape because if they admit it is then they are rapists.
🧵 So I wrote the Wired story on the burnerverse, and as part of my reporting, I spent months reading and listening to the convos 20-something men have when they think no one is looking.
It's easy to dismiss the Cornell 7 as outliers, or super privileged frat bros, or byproducts of the Greek system. They're not.
It's also easy to say they're the worst-case scenario. That they represent the nadir of toxic masculinity, or a culture that teaches men from an early age that young women's bodies are disposable. But they don't.
That Snapchat thread? That's the norm. That's the baseline. That type of language is EXTREMELY consistent with the convos these guys are having when they think no one is paying attention. Because most of the time, no one is.
many moons ago i was assaulted by a man (well-liked in hc at the time) who had a “kill your local rapist” tattoo. when i spoke up about it, he posted a notes app screenshot saying “but i have this tattoo and she’s mentally ill?” which was all it took to be crowned a liar
Fawning is a trauma response. A reflex. A survival skill to appease and comply with a perceived threat in order to stay safe.
And men mistake fawning for flirting all the fucking time. For example, the nervous laugh of the barista or the new hire at work who you keep harassing every single day. The woman who only gave you her number because you made her uncomfortable and she couldn't think of a way out.
Oftentimes a woman's survival mechanism gets read as interest and that interest gets interpreted as permission. Pressure isn't consent. Coercion isn’t consent.
@shiombra You have nothing to be ashamed of, you don’t get a say in how your brain and body respond in that situation. And people blame victims no matter what, “why didn’t you fight” or “well, you shouldn’t have fought, you made it worse, it’s your fault”.
The root cause of rape has always been power. It's not lust nor desire. It's power. The men who rape women do it because it gives them power over her, and that makes them feel good. That's why rape is a war crime, is tied to supremacist ideals, and is a big part of the patriarchy
