“Even if a student is keeping up with their work, the pressures of learning how to navigate the virtual environment and social isolation can leave them feeling disconnected from their teachers and peers.” @edutopia https://t.co/PwWToJCVsa
“If we want students to read—perhaps even grow to love reading—time for in-class reading needs to be prioritized in the school day.” @edutopia@GonserSarah

@zoe76765611 I feel the same! Lots of discipline skills I’d like to add into my in person learning but also some habits I picked up I would be more than happy to get rid of
Her story is perfect for this month and has material for any age level. I love that we celebrate her and her colleagues often in school systems. #hiddenfigures#byuh305
Katherine Johnson was a Black female mathematician working at NASA during the space race, and her contributions led to the first American to orbit Earth. Read more about Katherine on our blog! https://t.co/rrjc0tkUYY

One of the cool things of teachers using this platform is creating a community; not just to help their students but for each other. #byuh305#mentalhealth
"The most important thing we can do for each other is just to listen. If we have the bandwidth and time to just stop and listen to a colleague, that’s just such an important first step towards healing and wholeness." https://t.co/d2thnav8Ik
I didn’t realize math anxiety was a thing parents deal with alongside students! One of the tips was to “play math” to reduce this. How can teachers encourage parents to “play math” with their kids via technology?

For parents with math anxiety, raising kids provides a chance for a do-over. You can try experiencing the world through their eyes: a world that's made of math and full of wonder. https://t.co/gu2dEyMp8j
Taking away specials/ electives such as Art, Music, PE, etc. to add more content for testing is the same as taking away recess. It may sound like a good idea, but many children come to school for these classes and removing them may remove their joy for learning.
Instead of just having the day off, this is a cool opportunity to talk about why it was off and do something interactive and exciting about it! #PresidentsDay#byuh305
To celebrate the birthday of Abraham Lincoln, take students on a virtual tour of Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C. to explore the life and legacy of the 16th president of the United States >> https://t.co/c3bvlz31Na
After last week’s lecture in EDU385 on diagnostic assessment, I’ve been curious to know how teachers are currently doing this and have been doing this since the beginning of the year #byuh305
“Teachers’ ... conversations with students... go a long way to establish a sense of community. This type of communication is one of the biggest things students miss when learning online. Teams’ posts support that type of interaction.” #byuh305 making distant not as distant !
@ajwomack22 This was an interesting read! I liked the mindfulness of students’ home life and how life ≠ school. The area where I’m from has transitioned to be more like this for Language Arts and I felt a change in the enjoyment and passion for the learning as well.
