An Independent Disciplinary Commission has today expelled Southampton from the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs after the Club admitted to multiple breaches of EFL Regulations related to the unauthorised filming of other Clubs’ training.
In addition, the Club has received a four-point deduction that will be applied to the 2026/27 Championship table.
The effect of today’s order is that Middlesbrough are reinstated into the 2026 Play-Offs and will proceed to the Play-Off Final against Hull City. The final remains scheduled for Saturday 23 May, with the kick-off time to be confirmed.

Nottingham Forest will hold a special celebration to mark the naming of the John Robertson Stand ahead of Sunday’s Premier League fixture against AFC Bournemouth. ❤️
Get Morgan Gibbs-White on the plane, whoever you have to drop from attacking midfield. Player of the Year nominee, form player in the country over the last two months and difference maker with and without the ball. He has to be there.
🚨 Nottingham Forest intend to hand Vitor Pereira new long-term contract. #NFFC hierarchy & players said to be happy with 57yo + talks planned over extension (current deal June 2027). Club also aim - as things stand - to keep all key players @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/bD5EMcYF8G
Nottingham Forest are staying up.
Another bonkers rollercoaster season with 4 managers, a European semi-final & safety secured with only 2 games left. Some difficult moments, but job done.
Real chance that the manager who got them into Europe could now be relegated #nffc 🎢
