Dr Hogan and Lukacs recently published a review article in Nature Review Immunology discussing how different routes of exposure to food antigens can contribute to allergic sensitization and describe how mast cells ultimately drive the allergic reaction to these food allergens.
Congrats to Jazib Uddin, Hogan Lab and collaborators O’Roirdan, Lukacs, O’Dwyer, Nusrat and Parkos Labs on the publication of the article in JCI Insight describing a role for STARD7 in intestinal epithelial mitochondrial function and barrier integrity and susceptibility to IBD.
Congrats to Hogan Lab's Dr Hock Tay for winning the M-FARA Symposium's poster contest! Dr Baker presented the award for the poster "T-Cell Heterogeneity in the Intestinal Mucosa: Transcriptional Programs Driving IL-9 and IL-13 Production and T-Cell Pathogenicity in Food Allergy."
It was great catching up and reminiscing with old friends and mentors at this year's AAAAI Conference.

Kudos to Christian Rizza for his seminar talk last week at the Pathology Research Seminar Series! Christian presented an enthralling talk on "Utilizing Human Inducible Pluripotent Stem Cells to Study Mast Cells". Way to go, Christian!
Congratulations to Gila Idelman and Christian Rizza on acceptance of their manuscript in Mucosal Immunology! See the article below to learn more about this joint effort by the Hogan, Schuler and Baker labs within the MHWFAC.

Congrats to Charu and Sydney on their 2nd Place in the First Annual Pathology Department Art Competition!
Their Surrealist-like Cell "Cartography" is a map of Ann Arbor through the lenses of Sydney and Charu's scientific worlds!
Congratulations to Dr James Krempski and the Hogan Lab members and our collaborators in the Shaomeng Wang Lab and Obi Lab on getting their study accepted for publication in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology! See article at link below:

Paula Reichel is a returning member to the Hogan Lab, planning her PhD project, which will investigate the connection between food antigen uptake in the GI tract by antigen passages and the escalation from sensitization to food allergy. Welcome back, Paula!
The Hogan Lab would like to give a warm welcome to Somdutta Chakraborty! Somdutta joined our team recently and is working on esophageal epithelial proliferation in EoE. Welcome, Somdutta!
Everyone please give a warm welcome to one of our newest Research Fellows, Rao!
Rao’s work in the Hogan Lab is focused on Identifying molecular mechanisms underlying vascular endothelial barrier permeability to mast cell mediated Serpin A3 during anaphylactic food allergy.
