@RussOnPolitics When your Chair isn't calling prominent donors, but is putting up the DNC HQ as collateral, then yeah it makes sense to change your Chair before the midterms. Get someone one a temp-only basis who has a track record of raising cash and not throwing their phone at staffers.

@AlexanderMcCoy4 Many Party Chairs, by-and-large, are not day-by-day operators at HQ. Every Chair I've worked under has either been retired or had a main career. Your EDs, Finance Directors are the primary fundraisers, along with local party orgs and investments from electeds.

The only way for the DNC to get out of this hole is to replace Ken with a competent human being who will work with (and support) DNC staff, lobby every prominent Dem (safe district Dems, former officeholders, big donors) to help erase the debt, and go for the jugular in November.

My Ken Martin story. After founding Moms Demand Action, helping to raise $11 million for Kamala Harris’s campaign, hosting fundraisers at my home, donating individually, and becoming a member of the DNC Finance Committee, I assumed he’d reach out — if for no other reason than to ask me for more money. Nope, never heard from him. However, about six months into his tenure, he did have a DNC staff member call me to tell me he didn’t like something I’d tweeted. 🤷‍♀️

His position as the latter is the only reason he won. He cashed in all those chips, with his typical pattern of overpromising (which later turns into undercutting and under-delivering). The majority of DNC Committee Members failed us by picking a show horse over a work horse.
