BUNTING MANIPULATES PITCHER APPROACH AND SETS THE TABLE FOR FUTURE MOMENTS
With 2 outs and no body on in the 3rd inning, losing 4-0, @Brewers Manager Pat Murphy told #9 hitter David Hamilton to lay down a bunt in a seemingly unimportant at bat.
Why?
Because Murphy knew Hamilton was known for bunting and they could set the table for a future at bat and big moment later in the game where he’d get a pitch to hit.
And that’s exactly what happened.
Hamilton bunted.
Hamilton got out.
But in the 5th, in Hamilton’s next at bat, he got a pitch in the heart of the plate and singled scoring a run and bringing the Brewers within 1.
And in the 9th, Hamilton did it again, homering on a get me over slider and extending the Brewers lead to 6-4.
You bunt to create future moments, and the Brewers did just that.

David Bailey was asked if he made a "statement" today after the outside noise surrounding his play:
"I'm not really on social media, so I can't really speak on what was said. All that I feel like matters is what my coaches are telling, what my teammates are telling me."
Hal Steinbrenner buying into Brian Cashman’s belief that the playoffs are a “crapshoot” has helped rob an entire generation of Yankees fans of ever experiencing a World Series championship.
The Yankees used to measure success by CHAMPIONSHIPS. Now, just making the playoffs is apparently good enough.
Sad what the Yankee standard has become.
Yup… Georgia wanted Arch Manning so much it didn’t recruit any other QB’s in the 2023 class
Presumably, the Manning’s trusted Sark’s ability to develop Arch and put him in position to succeed
UGA is getting way more out of Gunner’s talent than Texas is getting out of Arch’s
There was a time when Georgia was seen as the losers in the Arch Manning and Dylan Raiola sweep stakes. Gunner was seen as back up option type to those guys.
Let’s look at how that turned out
David Bailey generated 9 pressures, including 5 quick pressures and 3 sacks, against the Browns. His 9 pressures are tied for the most by a rookie in a game since Jared Verse in Week 7, 2024.
Bailey leads all rookies in pressures (26) and quick pressures (9).

"We gotta give it to Peanut."
Everybody loves Dwight Phillips Jr. and with Nate Frazier out, "Peanut" rushed for a career high 120 yards on 17 carries to lead Georgia to a 20-17 win over Alabama.

I’m not an archaeologist, but maybe Stockton going 18/22 for 249 without his top two X-WR’s while UGA held Keelon to 16/30 for 185 won it?
Maybe UGA’s #3 and #4 RB’s going for 7 YPC won it? Perhaps UGA won because they had 7.5 yards a play and held Alabama to 5.8?
Just a guess
When Gunner Stockton was a little kid he asked his parents for cattle for Christmas.
He got a bull, five calves and five heifers.
Taking care of them became his job after school.
He is the starting quarterback for the Georgia Bulldogs, who are 4 and 0 and ranked third in the country, and today he plays at Alabama.
Here is where he comes from.
Tiger, Georgia. A little place in Rabun County up in the north Georgia mountains, near where Georgia runs into North Carolina and Tennessee. His family has been there for generations.
His name is not a nickname. His great grandfather was an aerial gunner in the Eighth Air Force in the Second World War, and a newspaper back home printed his name in a story as Gunner Stockton. The family kept it.
That man's actual name was V.D. Stockton. He was a district attorney in that part of Georgia for about 30 years. Gunner's father put it plainly. There was no way they were naming the boy V.D.
His father Rob played safety at Georgia Southern and started 48 games and later coached the defense at Rabun County High School. His mother Sherrie played basketball on scholarship at Erskine College. His older sister, whose name is Georgia, averaged 21 points a game and played at Presbyterian College.
North Carolina offered him a scholarship when he was in the eighth grade, after he threw a ball 66 yards at a camp.
He started four years at Rabun County and left holding the Georgia state high school records with 177 passing touchdowns and 77 rushing touchdowns. He broke records that belonged to Trevor Lawrence and Deshaun Watson.
He skipped the national camp circuit. He skipped the Elite 11. He never missed a practice or a workout in four years of high school.
And as a senior, he and his teammates cleaned the locker room after every practice and every game, so the custodians would have less to do.
He committed to South Carolina, and then that staff got fired. Georgia called. He said Georgia was where he was going and where he would graduate, and that he would compete for the job instead of leaving.
Then he waited.
He redshirted in 2022. In 2023 he was third on the depth chart. In 2024 he was the backup.
Then Carson Beck got hurt at halftime of the SEC Championship Game, and Gunner Stockton walked out there, and Georgia won it in overtime.
Last season he started all 14 games. In the SEC Championship Game he threw three touchdown passes against Alabama, Georgia won 28 to 7, and he was the most valuable player of it.
Today he goes back to Tuscaloosa.
Somewhere in Rabun County there is a herd of cattle that a boy asked for at Christmas, and a pickup truck, and a name a newspaper gave his great grandfather.
