Dr Joshua Maponga - The Classroom Must Serve African Development
Joshua Maponga has done it again.
In this clip from the 3 June premiere in Dar es Salaam of The Spearhead’s documentary challenging the Western narrative on Tanzania's post-election violence, ‘What Happened on October 29?’ the philosopher called for Tanzania to toss out its colonial-era curriculum. He suggested the government prepare young people to become stewards of the east African country’s vast natural resources.
Indeed, Tanzania ranks third in Africa for critical mineral reserves. Half of Tanzania’s exports are minerals, which generate $2.5 billion annually, according to the US International Trade Administration. Plus, revenues are expected to surge to $6.6 billion by 2027.
So do you agree with Maponga that Tanzanians should develop the skills to take control of their natural wealth? And what is education like in your African country? Drop us a comment.

I replied to a post by @jon_d_doe about how his landlady receives VIP greetings whenever she enters the compound.
I casually mentioned that my own tenants greet me very well, too.
Why wouldn’t they?
I have not increased their rent for 7 years.
I for stop there ooo!
Then I added one small detail:
“I am planning to increase it this year by 150%.”
Omo!
My people…
The atmosphere changed immediately.
The comment section became the founding members of the National Tenants Welfare Association.
Everyone in the replies is defending my tenants.
Some were quoting economics.
Some were calculating inflation.
Some were praying for the tenants.
One person was practically preparing a court injunction. 😂😂😂
The funniest part?
My tenants were nowhere in sight.
Yet the whole of X had already assembled to fight for them.
I was scrolling through the replies, wondering:
“When exactly did all of you move into my building?”
The way they responded, you would think I personally increased fuel prices.
No be me increase cement.
No be me increase cost of building materials.
Yet na me collect. 😭
That was when I discovered a universal truth:
People are going through a lot in Nigeria, and they are becoming more empathetic toward one another, even toward people they do not know. It touched me.
A single mother in her late 30s was dating a divorced man in his 60s.
He took good care of her and her child.
Infact, the child and the man had started doing father-child bonding, and he was even doing school runs.
He rented an apartment for her and furnished it and everything was good.
Single mother said that she wanted more and marriage.
Man wasn't interested in marriage but wanted to keep her as his mistress and said he doesn't want any child too.
Single mother got connected to a man living abroad, and the man came to Nigeria to see her.
The man promised her marriage and got her pregnant.
The other man warned her but she said she was "in love" with the abroad man.
Single mother carried the pregnancy to term and gave birth to the child.
Child developed complications and didn't survive after a few months.
Abroad man abandoned single mother and stopped picking her calls and blocked her.
Former man had moved on and dissociated himself from single mother and the child that he had bonded with for over two years.
Single mother could no longer afford the rent and school fees of the school where former man was graciously paying for.
Now single mother is living in regrets.
Man has found another mistress and is now bonding with the new mistress and her child.
New mistress lives pretty close to former mistress, and man goes to see new mistress in the full glare of former mistress, and has bought new mistress a car while former mistress treks and is looking dejected.
End.
When people talk about whether Peter Obi can secure Nigeria if elected, I will just laugh: some people do not know who Peter Obi is. Military Commander under Peter obi has something to tell Nigerians.
What this means is that the average cooking gas of 12.5kg would cost about N30k.
Tell me..
Is it only non-APC supporters that would suffer it?
But as usual, they'll still come to defend Tinubu.
Slaves, loving their chains.
End.

“INEC, we came here to warn you. If you know you are prepared to be used to rig the 2027 election, it’s better you write your will now.”
— Concerned Nigerians have spoken.
The Spearhead is proud to present its debut feature length documentary, which tears apart the popular media narrative surrounding Tanzania's October 29, 2025 election, and lifts the veil to reveal the true masterminds behind the deadly chaos during and after the election.
“Is North no longer part of Nigeria?
Is Borno state no longer part of Nigeria?
On May 15th, 42 children were abducted in Borno State. That same day, 39 students and 7 teachers were taken in Oyo State.
The government rushed to Oyo, sent delegations, deployed 1,000 forest guards. Borno got silence. We are not asking for more than Oyo got. We are asking for equal humanity. Is the North not part of Nigeria? Say their names. Demand their return. Bring ALL our children home….”

“The terr0r!st are not asking for sharia law, they’re not asking for money, they are not asking for 1 billion Naira, they’re not asking for cars, all they need is some of thier people to be released, please help us beg the government to negotiate with them”
