@yrfatfriend I lost vision in one eye and the ER found a brain tumor. Brain surgeon ran blood work, found out a hormone I've been on for 10+ years is acting like a steroid. It explains so much that was blamed on me and has been making it impossible to lose weight.
@yrfatfriend Just had the 2nd largest thyroid my surgeon has seen removed. It had my airway down to 1/5 the size it's meant to be. Was dismissed as asthma, and fat neck for 10 years. Now it's gone my joints feel so much better.
@AxellesNobody @DreddByDawn@yrfatfriend@USATODAY Whenever I go shopping and have to weave around shopping carts people leave parked thoughtlessly, I am reminded that straight sized people do not have to be mindful of the space they occupy and the inconvenience that might cause others.
@yrfatfriend A Dr discovered this month that a hormone I've been taking for 10+years to manage endometrial cancer has been acting as a steroid. There is a list of problems i suffer from that come from long term steroid use. They were all dismissed as things that happen...
@barrydeutsch@KivaBay First time I'm seeing these characters. The original one looks badly proportioned which ultimately draws more attention to other-ness . Your revamp is fantastic!
@yrfatfriend@USATODAY I've noticed the theme in these articles is not to hold the airlines accountable for making spaces smaller and more uncomfortable for all ppl in favor of profit, that is accepted. But instead to demonize ppl for taking up space.
@yrfatfriend Compared to the hospital I usually go to there is contempt from 80% of medical people. I want to cry from the kindness I've received. I'm scared and vulnerable and I never had medical people consistently treat me like I'm just another patient 2/2.
@yrfatfriend I've been undergoing pretty stressful medical stuff, and went to a different hospital then I usually do as my surgeon is there. They've found another serious problem or two so I've seen a lot of medical people. NONE of have them have been the slightest bit fat phobic! 1/2
@Ebony_QT This is a great thread. I'm curious though, if the apology was genuine and about you not about his guilt, would it change how you feel now? Like "I wanna say I'm so sorry about how I treated you, that was a real dick move you deserved so much better" kindda sentiment.
