This is the season of what I call arrogant intellectualism.
Arrogant because some people are now completely fixated on the theoretical understanding of Nigeria while ignoring the reality Nigerians are living through every day.
Yes, according to the IMF, fuel subsidy removal is good. According to the World Bank, floating the naira is necessary. According to economic textbooks, increasing FAAC allocations to governors is “sound policy.”
Fine. On paper, all of that may look beautiful.
But has it translated into better living conditions for Nigerians?
People are more hungry now than before. Transportation has become unbearable. Food prices are insane. Rent is climbing. Businesses are collapsing. The average Nigerian is exhausted.
The increased federal allocations to governors are not reflecting in the lives of ordinary people. So what exactly are you celebrating?
This is why I call it arrogant intellectualism. Some people are more interested in feeding their intellectual ego than confronting reality. They want to sound sophisticated. They want to quote the IMF, the WTO, the World Bank, and throw around economic theories online so people can call them “brilliant.”
But they are disconnected from what is actually happening on ground.
No Nigerian will chop statistics.
You cannot eat GDP projections. You cannot survive on “long-term reforms.” You cannot tell a hungry man to calm down because macroeconomic indicators are improving.
Yes, projects like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway may sound impressive on paper. But what direct impact are ordinary Nigerians feeling right now?
You are supporting a government that has struggled to fully implement even previous budgets. Contractors from 2024 are still complaining about payments. Yet people are acting like Nigeria is experiencing some economic miracle because international institutions are praising reforms.
Meanwhile, insecurity has worsened. In some parts of Nigeria, people genuinely feel less safe now than they did under Buhari. Imagine that.
At the same time, political power is becoming dangerously concentrated. Governors are being pressured into alignment. Federal allocation and state resources are increasingly being weaponized politically. We are gradually drifting toward a system where one party dominates almost every institution of government.
Yet some people still think supporting all this automatically makes them “more intellectual” than everyone else.
But real intelligence is not just repeating economic theory. Real intelligence is balancing theory with reality. Real intelligence is asking one simple question:
“How is the average Nigerian actually living?”
Because if poverty is increasing, hunger is increasing, insecurity is increasing, and hopelessness is increasing, then maybe the people blindly defending policies because foreign institutions approve of them are not as intellectually grounded as they think they are.

I do not have the power to order the Nigerian security agencies to rescue my sister immediately. I do not have the money to pay the ₦40 million naira ransom the kidnappers are demanding before my sister can be released or they will k!ll her.
The only thing I have is my voice. I will use my voice to reach the world to let them know the evils that are happening in Nigeria @NigeriaGov@NGRPresident under the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT without efforts to stop them.
My younger sister must not d!e in the harsh and harrowing custody of the kidnappers. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT must rescue my sister alive and unhurt today.
Today makes it 10 gory Days in the den of kidnappers. She was kidnapped at Kabba, Kogi State, Nigeria, on Monday, 13 April 2026, on her way to Abuja.
I will sacrifice everything I can.
Rukayat Ayoni Lawal will not be used to pay for the gross incompetence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT.

You don't “vote out Tinubu” by voting for any other party that is not APC on election day. You do it by consolidating behind one candidate and delivering more votes than APC can.
This is why the apathetic “I don't trust any politician but we should just ensure we vote out Tinubu” is dangerous.
Pick a person and go all in! Things are too bad to be on the fence…
While some of us are sleeping, Riyom LGA in Plateau is under attack⚠️😪
Everyday we keep asking, “WHEN WILL THIS END”
But the truth is, with these set of leaders, it’ll never END😪
We need a new set of leaders who VALUE HUMAN LIVES🙏🏻
TINUBU & all the APC GOVERNORS OUT‼️⚠️
Have you noticed how the news barely shocks us anymore?
Killings in the North… again and again.
It’s starting to feel “normal.”
That’s the plan.
We must not stop questioning the government, tweet and retweet any tweet you see concerning killings in the North.
What happens there today can spread tomorrow.
No region is truly safe if we stay silent.
We are in a WAR in Nigeria.!!
The killing fields are Plateau, Benue, Kaduna and several other states.
They are slaughtering our people across the country every single day.
This is no longer “insecurity” this is a full-blown war on Nigerians.
When will the government admit it and act?
There is a plotted ATTACK by Islamists against Christians in the MIDDLE BELT⚠️‼️
These aren't communal clashes
These r TERRORISTS not bandits
These aren't Farmer herder clashes
These r coordinated attacks against CHRISTIANS‼️
BOLA & APC care more about power than our LIVES🫵🏽
These terrorists made a promise to attack churches during the Easter period. Today, Sunday, they have kept that promise by attacking and killing several people in Benue and Kaduna. This is too frequent to be dismissed as anything other than a targeted campaign against Christians
“These are some of those kil+ed when terrorists attacked my people today, Sunday, in Ariko village, Awon Ward, in Kachia LGA, while they were holding their Easter service. They surrounded the churches, kil+ed some, stole the offerings from the churches, and abducted many worshippers, including children.”
- Reuben Buhari
Those kil+ed include:
1. Aminu Soba
2. Waziri Agunu
3. Tankoa Haruna
4. Adamu Jatau
5. Joseph Gungume
6. Rabo Atete
