I’m so sorry your family has had to go thru this also…nobody should ever have to go thru anything like this. The guy that hit my daughter has numerous past charges and most of them dismissed. They ranged from multiple reckless operation, driving without a license, and dwi’s…and apparently driving without insurance…yet he was still allowed out on the road…had something been done sooner my daughter would still be with us today

We desperately need changes in Louisiana. They need to revise the pre-set bail amounts for serious or violent offenses and require offenders to see a judge before bail is set for these crimes. We also need to raise the sentences for hit and runs involving pedestrian. When somebody it’s a pedestrian and leaves the scene especially if the victim is in critical condition or passes away they should most definitely get more than one or two years in prison or probation. Multiple cases that have happened here in Louisiana that is all they get and most of them hardly end up doing any time at all even though they basically committed murder. It’s sending the wrong message to people, basically telling them it’s ok to kill someone as long as you use your vehicle.

Yes it shouldn’t be an option in Louisiana either and from now on I will definitely have it. The guy that hit her and left her for dead is an American citizen who has been having motor vehicle related incidents for the past 10 yrs. Most of them having to do with reckless operations, driving without a license, dwi’s , and apparently driving without insurance but yet most of his charges were dismissed. Had he been held accountable for any of his other charges then my daughter would still be here with us today.
