Happy to share the 3rd chapter of my thesis was just published.

The final piece of work from my PhD on koala MHC diversity, out now in immunogenetics. We show what is possible with a large number of high coverage genomes @HoggCarolyn@KathyBelov @ellemclennan https://t.co/U6YOPstcc9
"My father realised that I had an interest in science," recalls Distinguished Professor Arthur Georges FAA (@UniCanberra). "He was a politician and he brought me to Canberra quite often and one year, he took me across to show me the Shine Dome." Arthur, now a world-leading ecologist and herpetologist, is set to return to the Dome next month to be inducted into the Academy at #ShineDome24.
"[My father] explained that it was the centre of academic life for scientists. As is anyone who sees it for the first time, I was really impressed. But back then in 1968, it was really out of the ordinary. That memory stayed with me forever."
Arthur will be inducted into the Academy along with 21 other new Fellows as part of our four-day annual event, Science at the Shine Dome. Learn more: https://t.co/jWbdp9PLnP

Super proud, @Hollyvnelson first paper from her PhD published! A genomic framework to assist in conservation breeding & translocation success - using the Bellinger River turtle as a case study @KathyBelov @ellemclennan @JaneDegabriel@ardynasios https://t.co/0SdKBCsXKH
Bilbies are weird! Chromosome 1 is massive - 934 Mbp - that's bigger than some fish genomes.
Their X-chromosome has fused to the end of chromosome 2 - making the X the second largest chromosome. Our synteny map shows how they differ to other marsupials
Super excited to announce the publication of the Bilby genome today in Nature Ecology & Evolution https://t.co/rcJ0YaTGEI
Massive effort by a great team of scientists, conservation managers & Indigenous Rangers! @Sydney_Science@KathyBelov
A 🧵
New #paper highlighting the need for more work and conservation efforts on Australia's freshwater #turtles. Great job leading this @deborah_bower

Best way to end the FY, a behind the scenes tour of @symbiozoo to check out Bellinger River Snapping Turtles, Mixophyes & Litoria. Got a few up close encounters too. Caught up with @HoggCarolyn and @Hollyvnelson to hear their next plans for BRST genetics under #SavingourSpecies
Thanks to the team at @symbiozoo for an amazing day! Got to see some amazing facilities for threatened species conservation 🐢🐸 Not to mention the cuddly encounters @NSWDPE @Sydney_Science
This mid-sized freshwater #turtle has had more names than the artist formerly known as Prince! The species has had 4 scientific names in its time, but at least its common name is simple: Northern Red-faced Turtle.😊
