This is what sovereignty actually means in the 21st century.

Divide the herd and every member becomes easier to pick off.

And so we have:

Greenland: Trump challenging the territorial interests of Denmark/Europe.

Ceuta: an enormous, highly unusual breach of the external border of Spain/EU from Morocco, a close Trump partner.

European politics: Trump-world figures openly supporting sympathetic political movements and criticising European governments and institutions.

UK: a US government programme explicitly funding organisations to promote particular Anglo-American political values.

Trade: Washington increasingly using tariffs and market access as geopolitical leverage.

There is a pattern: multiple pressures are simultaneously testing Europe’s cohesion. Who benefits from a fragmented Europe incapable of responding collectively to external pressure?

Whether the pressure comes from America, China, Russia, Morocco or somewhere else, Europe’s protection lies in collective strength rather than every country trying to negotiate alone.
