@Sut_40 I always enjoy your storytelling of the first pitch of the game to Phil Bradley & the umpire asking you to keep the ball in play (assuming I’m remembering that story correctly)
@wischlist The 4-3 groundouts. They were always so predictable. And frustrating. Boog talked about it a bit on the broadcast, but the body language also seemed to tell a story.
"I never had a chance to meet Ryne, but I watched him play every day because I wanted to be like him."
Jeff Kent credits the late Ryne Sandberg for setting the standard for generations of second basemen 💙
@Sut_40 I would love to sit & listen to your stories of the 84 Cubs. The 84 Cubs are the team that made me fall in love w/ baseball as a 6 year old in a family of Cardinals fans. And the fandom has been passed on to my two baseball loving boys, all starting in the magical summer of 1984.
@wischlist@cody__cubs Milton & Hundley always been 1 & 1A on my list. Definitely should be some 2004 representatives on the list.
Dave Smith & Danny Jackson also up for consideration.
@wischlist It’s…ok. At first, I didn’t quite pick up on the marquee & it just looked like a generic logo. Afraid most casual fans wouldn’t see it. I’d like to see the ivy somehow included on the logo.
Pete Crow-Armstrong of the @Cubs is one of three players in MLB history to have a month with:
.375+ batting average
.775+ slugging pct
80+ total bases
15+ walks
10+ home runs
5+ stolen bases
The others are Babe Ruth (June 1920, July 1920, May 1930) and Lou Gehrig (June 1930).
There is not a single Cubs person who would have Sosa ranked ahead of Ernie Banks as their greatest player of all time. It’s Bank in a unanimous decision
