Jesus was most drawn to the forsaken and despised, the marginalised. He was beloved by them, even as he was targeted & eventually killed by the politically & religiously powerful, who viewed Jesus as a grave threat to their dominance.
We follow His example because this is right.
It's important to remember that religion lays the groundwork for mathematics in trying to answer things we don't understand. Spirituality and mathematics are the same thing. The need for spirituality comes from imagining the problems we want to solve.
Gen Z has been called the loneliest generation. This is due in part to the "stranger danger" fear-mongering, but also the confusion that online connections are real-life connections.

St Vincent of Lerins reminds us there are 3 central characteristics of Orthodoxy: that it is held everywhere (universality), always (antiquity) & by all (consent).
As a result the East & West Orthodox rites/preferences should be in unity. The Society of St Basil helps with that.
We wish to express solidarity with the people from Turkey and Syria.
We pray for the victims, for their families and for the rescue team in place.
This tragedy is without borders, the suffering human beings are our brothers and sisters.
Many of you may be familiar with our Parish Chair and Office Administrator, Dolores, who has left this world due to a long illness. We pray that she will endure her particular judgement according to her great faith, works & love of humanity. She has been a mother to many.

PROFESSION OF FAITH
We believe in God, who has created and
who is creating, and whose divinity
infuses life with the sacred. We believe
in the multiple revelations of God, alive
in every human heart, expressed in
every culture, found in all the wisdoms
of the world.
Archimandrite @MatyasOrthodox's discussion after liturgy about love and fear...he had some good things to say like
"Not questioning God seems to be a go-to idea for a lot of Orthodox people but blind trust is fear, not love; God does not encourage a place of fear (1 John 4:18)."
