@SonKing@urbanizedbeach As explained, neither I nor the OP are saying something about the "inner man" when we communicate about our categorical experiences; since you seem intent on not believing us, there's not much more to say! God Bless.
@SonKing@urbanizedbeach On that note, I am going to sign off for a few days. I don’t come on Twitter much and this is the most I’ve talked about sexuality in a while. After all, I don’t make it my identity :) Time to just get on with my life in Christ 💜
@SonKing@urbanizedbeach Overall, I believe that how a person lives his or her life— what it is oriented around— is a greater indication of where they find identify more than adjectives
@SonKing@urbanizedbeach I of course have heard of Sam A:) I think his way of framing his story and decision about language is valid but not mutually exclusive with other ways :). I don’t see an “ontological” difference between us.
@SonKing@urbanizedbeach Let me draw a parallel. I work with people of various disabilities. Someone may not want to be defined by their disability, but the actual label & category of it is useful for describing their experience. You cannot just erase it b/c they are theoretically made new in Christ.
@SonKing@urbanizedbeach Thank you for teaching people to see their wholeness in Christ! Amen! I would just encourage you not to draw unnecessary lines in the sand
@SonKing@urbanizedbeach In fixating on this one word with concern for our core identity, you ironically reduce us to our sexual struggles in a way we are not even doing ourselves!
@SonKing@urbanizedbeach Also, a word like “autism” refers to a number of characteristics in an autistic person, some may be a struggle, some just are. In the same way, the word “gay” is not synonymous for lust or sin. That is very reductive.
@SonKing@urbanizedbeach What you’re saying is all true — the problem is you want to disqualify people based on what adjectives they use to describe their experience , and that is wrong! My born again self doesn’t change based on that. I’m not defined by a single word, I’m not even using it that way
@SonKing@urbanizedbeach I agree with you! That’s what’s funny. I AM a christian who fights lust. Im committed to celibacy for life! But im not straight
@SonKing@urbanizedbeach How about “celibate Christians who experience SSA but surrender their desire for romantic & sexual fulfillment in obedience to Jesus (thereby identifying w/ Him) but still sometimes struggle w/fight against lust (just like straight people)” oof that’s a mouthful but hey!
@urbanizedbeach Colton if you change it to “celibate Christians who experience same sex attraction and sometimes struggle with lust just like straight people” than I think works better 😉
@SonKing@urbanizedbeach This is usually where the conversation breaks down so if you think differently than I don’t think we can go anywhere from here. At that point we are just debating the actual existence of real people. God bless!
@SonKing@urbanizedbeach What is “gay activity?” Lust? Sex? It is the same as straight “activity” outside of marriage. The OP is celibate Christian. What you’re missing is that people who forego gay “activity” are still… gay. We don’t sin by just *existing* any different than anyone else does
