@Antifant_Troet@lizterzapzap Sure, but people are used to GUIs. They use Windows, MacOS, and iPads. Introducing the concept of remembering commands is insanity to the average user. Again, I am not this user, but CLIs don't get marketshare, pretty, bloated, GUIs do. CLIs are a mental block for people.
@Antifant_Troet@lizterzapzap Not saying that it's impossible to make people use Linux btw. I'd love for MS not to have a monopoly. But having seen what users do, it just genuinely needs to be easier, if a terminal ever *has* to be opened, non-tech people won't use it.
@Antifant_Troet@lizterzapzap But most people didn't learn Windows, they just brute force try to navigate it. Like the amount of people I have had to tell that their computer is still on the internet, they just deleted the Microsoft Edge shortcut is scary lmao.
@Antifant_Troet@lizterzapzap Linux is easy in the same way playing a video game is easy. It's actually hard if you have no prior knowledge. We know an entire design language learned over a lifetime that makes it intuitive, they do not. I don't blame them, I don't care about their area of expertise either.
@Antifant_Troet@lizterzapzap You and me are interested in computers, so we're willing to learn. But most people are not that interested, so they don't want to learn. They're just forced to interact with our area, because society deems it necessary, so if we want them to use something, we have to make it easy
@Antifant_Troet@lizterzapzap Have you ever done tech support? People get confused if you open control panel on Windows. They think you're hacking their computer if you open powershell. The user friendly settings app eludes them. A Pacman command might as well be rocket science.
@Antifant_Troet@lizterzapzap I keep seeing "everyone can use terminal cmds it's easy" and sorry but that's just not correct, the vast majority of people will completely refuse to use a terminal, no matter what. You cannot convince them, they are unwilling. But if you want market share, you need them.
@6000percentme@esjesjesj This guy literally posted this 2 hours before the post we're talking about, I mean it is very very clear what the problem is for them.
@6000percentme@esjesjesj What was it then? Genuine question, not being confrontational. Because these guys post non-joking versions of this image every 2 minutes, so it looked like that was what they were doing again.
@6000percentme@esjesjesj I know what I saw on my timeline when that game came out, I know for a fact that there are a shocking amount of people that find the cartoon bug attractive.
@bitches_stan@JamrockHobo Do you think that engaging with a piece of media means that you explicitly endorse every facet of that piece of media? Are we really doing "you are what you consume", like are we liberals or something. You don't even have to pay for it.
@mhbio777@luckdeep_@romes_are_rosie@kwehzy That is true if your goal is being respected by them, but her goal is education. These guys have massive audiences, who will see a backyard zoo and think "cool", so when she's educating, she's trying to educate the audience, not the influencers. They are just a vessel.
@Dchinchin2@interesting_aIl Why advertise Brave here? It has loads of AI features (and crypto features), not exactly the browser to use if you hate AI. Zen Browser is a Firefox fork that removes all AI features, and due to being Firefox based it also let's you download uBlock Origin.
@Celastine01@esjesjesj Why do you guys always think that protesting is a means of building support? If someone starts loving ICE because someone blocked the road, they obviously didn't believe in anything anyway. The goal of actual protest is disrupting the flow of money.
