As we celebrate Navy Month this July and approach Navy Day on 25 July, the Republic of Fiji Navy’s Fleet, and Air operations supported by 🇦🇺DPAP, have successfully concluded a week-long maritime operation

Over 80 vessels were boarded, culminating in a PHOTOEX that proudly marks 51 years of dedicated service by the Republic of Fiji Navy to the nation and the region. Our work continues, with our partners and those still on deployment — ever vigilant, watching over our waters⚓️🇫🇯✈️

Last night, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) Fiji at the Vuvale Maritime Essential Services Centre (MESC) was activated for a search & rescue case involving an overdue boat with 05 persons between Korolevu and Vatulele

RFNS SAVENACA which deployed early hours this morning, supported by @NZDefenceForce P8, and two domestic aircraft with ⚓️SAR Air-riders managed to locate the overdue boat and rescue the 05 persons, including a child, in rough seas mid this morning. The NZDF P8 was enroute to another SAR case for another overdue boat in Kiribati, also being coordinated by JRCC FIJI.

The successful rescue is a testament of the coordinated efforts between JRCC Fiji, JRCC NZ, and the SAR units that were deployed for the case

The Republic of Fiji Navy acknowledges all those involved, and would like to remind mariners not to take unnecessary risks traveling at sea in unfavorable weather #Fiji

Australia, Japan and Fiji have started the design of a new 3FIR HQ at Queen Elizabeth Barracks, replacing the building destroyed by fire in 2021.

This is the first joint security infrastructure partnership between our countries and shows our commitment to regional security.
