Last night, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) Fiji at the Vuvale Maritime Essential Services Centre (MESC) was activated for a search & rescue case involving an overdue boat with 05 persons between Korolevu and Vatulele
RFNS SAVENACA which deployed early hours this morning, supported by @NZDefenceForce P8, and two domestic aircraft with ⚓️SAR Air-riders managed to locate the overdue boat and rescue the 05 persons, including a child, in rough seas mid this morning. The NZDF P8 was enroute to another SAR case for another overdue boat in Kiribati, also being coordinated by JRCC FIJI.
The successful rescue is a testament of the coordinated efforts between JRCC Fiji, JRCC NZ, and the SAR units that were deployed for the case

Australia, Japan and Fiji have started the design of a new 3FIR HQ at Queen Elizabeth Barracks, replacing the building destroyed by fire in 2021.
