The Leicester Landlord Action Group, representing 200 landlords in Leicester, issued judicial review proceedings against Leicester City Council over the new HMRC regulations, requiring them to pay £1,090 per property to register.
Here's the Press Release issued by the Group:
The Council’s properties are exempt from registration and regulations, but they want the private landlords, who provide the best possible facilities to tenants, to suffer. Does the council alone have the capacity to provide proper housing to the people?

Landlords who work hard to provide Leicester residents with privately rented homes should be consulted about Selective Licensing and Regulations. @Leicester_News@CityMayorLeic Retweet and support us to prevent a housing crisis in Leicester
Why can’t we have a proper consultation involving tenants, landlords and all housing stakeholders before the unfair Selective Licensing rules are imposed? We need to prevent a housing crisis in Leicester. @Leicester_News@CityMayorLeic@Ellycutkelvin1
Leicester City Mayor Peter Soulsby, Deputy Mayor Piara Claire and Assistant Mayor for Housing Elly Cutkelvin, cancel a meeting at the eleventh hour with 25 landlords, who were seeking to avert a major housing crisis in Leicester because of what the Council is doing. Outrageous!
