Gentlemen, see, there’s no individual on earth that did magnificent things and works that isn’t flawed. You see, a lot of us simply notice the masterpieces of philosophers, geniuses, inventors, entrepreneurs and writers and conclusively tell ourselves that those particular individuals lived a life of flawlessness and perfection.
Know this that whichever person you have in mind that’s your mentor or whatever person you respect and adore battles with hidden battles, weaknesses and addictions that he won’t admit out loud. But however, they magnificently contributed to the betterment of humanity.
So what am I trying to say, you’re human. And just like them too. Don’t hate yourself for your addictions and weaknesses. Don’t create a negative perception about yourself because you’re battling with your dark side. Practice disciplinary commitment as much as possible and restart and refocus as much as you want. Always try to ameliorate the weak side of yourself and propel yourself towards the greater assignment nature instill upon you. And remember, nobody is flawless.
Do everything you can to maximize neuroplasticity.
New restaurants. New cafes. New seat in the cafe. New music. New workouts. New hobbies. New languages. New countries.
Yes, consistency is important, but if you want to access new thinking and creativity, you have to have new experiences, and you have to have them often.
Not love at first sight, but fascination at first glance. The irresistible urge to know more, to uncover every layer, to keep looking long after you should’ve looked away. They say attention is the beginning of devotion and somehow, you’ve always had all of mine.
Somewhere there is a man who quit his tax job to open a bakery, and everybody around him talked about it like someone died. his wife was terrified. the bakery is probably failing, the lights are on late and he looks tired. but he was different before. he used to stand like he was waiting for permission to be in a room. now he just stands there. the bakery is going under, probably, but whatever was missing from that man for fifteen years came back. and everybody is so busy feeling sorry for him that nobody noticed he is the only person who actually likes mornings now. for whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will find it.
The 1 thing you cannot afford is getting complacent. Thinking you got it all. No need for more. That’s exactly when you lose everything. You cannot allow yourself to stop or do less. You simply need to find more challenges to take on. Harder things to do. Once you make this switch, there is no coming back. You finally start enjoying every single second you live. Embrace risk and uncertainties. Stop being soft. Stop trying to get it right. You learn nothing from that. It even gets boring. But you learn plenty from fucking things up. The moment you think you’ve arrived, you’re already falling behind. Comfort kills more dreams than failure ever will. You need friction. You need problems that push you. You need situations that force you to grow. When everything becomes easy, when you stop facing resistance, that’s when you start dying. Keep finding new mountains to climb. Keep putting yourself in positions where you might fail. That’s where life actually happens.
