The speech of the President dives into the complex, and often challenging, relationship between the government and the press in a democracy.
It's clear that the President recognizes the media's role in holding power accountable, even when that scrutiny is critical.
The examples he gives, like the contrasting headlines about the economy, perfectly illustrate how the same events can be framed in very different ways, leading to a constant back-and-forth.
It’s that push and pull, that need for both action from the government and questioning from the media, that he believes ultimately strengthens the nation.
He's not shying away from the criticism, but he is also calling for diligence and accuracy from journalists.
One of the qualities I respect in Mr. President @officialABAT is that he doesn’t shy away from the truth; his words carry meaning even when he doesn’t complete some, but if you are very smart, you should understand.
"Yes, there is often tension between the government and the press, but that is the nature of democracy. The government must act, the media must watch. The government must explain, the media must question and bark when necessary. It is this healthy tension that strengthens our republic.
"As the President, I have often found myself both praised and sometimes criticized and in the same newspaper in different days. One day, I read in the headline: "Tinubu Scores Big As Nigeria Economy Expands." The very next day, the same newspaper on another page, I encountered another headline: "Nigeria's Economy Falters As Tinubu Loses Grip."
"I didn't know Segun Adeniyi would be here tonight. His last back page on security, I read everything. I still have a copy on my desk. Very rich outline. Thank you very much for keeping us very well. I read it all.
"One person that is not here that I read recently on the back page of the Guardian was Lanre Babalola. He was talking on Shiroro Dam. No electricity, you are alternating generators and all of that. We will be there. You can't blow hot and cold within 24 hours.
"However, you can be rest assured that our economy is doing well. We are out of the dark tunnel of uncertainty...I have learned to respect the scrutiny and questions, even as I ask the media to always do its own work. You must do your homework."

Such encouraging strides to see Nigeria making such significant strides in its healthcare infrastructure, especially with something as crucial as medical oxygen production.
This kind of investment in domestic supply for resilience and accessibility will definitely change and impact lives positively.
PVAC attends the commissioning of Apex African Gas
25 June — Lagos, Nigeria — Apex African Gas Air Separation Unit (ASU) Commissioning
The Presidential Initiative for Unlocking the Healthcare Value Chain (@PVAC_NG) attended the commissioning of Apex African Gas’s new 70 TPD Air Separation Unit (ASU) plant in Lagos. Combined with its existing 40 TPD facility, the investment positions Apex as Nigeria’s largest medical oxygen producer by installed production capacity—strengthening domestic supply resilience and reducing reliance on imports.
Nigeria is investing in the infrastructure required to build a more reliable, sustainable, and resilient medical oxygen ecosystem.
PVAC is working to unlock Nigeria’s potential for a more reliable, sustainable, and resilient medical oxygen ecosystem. 🫁

Every home in Nigeria will get a unique digital postcode as part of the ongoing National Digital Alphanumeric Postcode System rollout.
This process has already commenced.
The implementation of this system ensures Nigeria has a smarter, more secure, and digitally enabled addressing system that will improve service delivery, strengthen emergency response, and unlock new opportunities across our economy.
The administration of President Tinubu is committed to reforming every aspect of our economy in order to achieve the ambitious goal of creating a $1trn economy by 2030.
This digital postcode system will be a game-changer for Nigeria!
The fact that it’s designed to boost everything from emergency response to economic opportunities, makes sense that this kind of modernization is a key part of President Tinubu's plan to hit that $1 trillion economy goal by 2030.
