I don’t know what warped logic drove Putin to blow up a stationary Ukrainian locomotive on the Polish border this morning. What we can say for sure is that this is the kind of random and senseless attack Ukrainians are enduring every day - even on civilian railways. So far Putin has been responsible for the deaths of 1700 staff of Ukrzaliznytsia - Ukrainian Railways. They and their daily passengers are absolutely heroic.
When are we going to give them the air defences they need? Why won’t we unfreeze Putin’s cash and give it to Ukraine? There is more than €140 billion in a Belgian bank account - and about £10 billion in London. Britain could show a lead.
The Ukrainians are going to win - that much was clear from the last three days in their wonderful country. But we will get this dreadful war over much faster if we all get serious and give them what they need and deserve.
Scheduled Actions are reminders, but better.
Right now mine are:
- Daily Swedish lesson, personalised for my level and the topics I'm struggling with.
- Weekly schedule of sessions in the upcoming F1 weekend. When there is one.
- Monthly reminder and a link to a table where I keep track of money.
- Weekly planning of what to do next in the Good Assistant project. Includes everything we've done during the passed week.
- Reminders of the future deadlines for VAT reporting.
Since Good Assistant already has your tasks, notes and goals, it can work with them (and the internet) to do anything you want.
@joshearle Agree, I did that in Good Assistant. It's one chat, "infinite" memory. Feels better to use than ChatGPT style but even Grok Bots. No need to think about which bot has what info in their memory.
@Lucy_Milstein@paularambles Parents are the best testers. My dad started using Good Assistant for learning English, and I’m getting phone calls about notification badges not resetting when he read the last message 😀
"Jacob Collier's Berlin concert date could line up with visiting Nadya. Worth checking out."
My wife got this from her Good Assistant recently.
It's a great example of the power of memory + proactiveness in an AI Assistant.
To send that message you have to remember an artist she likes, remember a trip she's planning, and be thinking about her when she isn't thinking about you.

6 months worth of updates is ready for those who want help with making progress on their life goals.
Memory can be much, much better. I’ve had the same experience for a while when building Good Assistant, but a great, long term memory that feels completely natural can be done. I’m also convinced that the system that creates, maintains and uses the memory needs to be on another level of complexity compared to storing selected facts in markdown, that will never produce natural memory, or memory that’s any good in other aspects.
Until we change the basic architecture of today’s llms it will be a hard and expensive-to-solve problem, but can be done! I’m now very happy with Assistant’s memory, which for me now has more than a year worth of every day conversations.
Things my Good Assistant remembered that I didn’t ask it to:
August 4 - I got my post approved and published on Hacker News. I checked the task on Good Assistant as ✔ done. Didn't provide a link to my post, didn't write anything in the chat, just marked the task as done.
August 5 - I get this proactive message from Claire (my Good Assistant):
One example of the power of Good Assistant memory:
Once I was asking about ways to deal with tiny flies on my plants, and Claire (my Good Assistant) answered: “Because you have Nora, we need to limit our options…” , and then checked each option for cat-compatibility.
An uneducated gnat-killer I am, I didn’t even think of asking for it upfront.
Good Assistant doesn’t need you to create a separate chat for each topic, it sorts out information in its “head” like an adult.
No need to explain your context each time, no need to keep and update the file with the basic info about yourself.
Unlike other AI assistants, Good Assistant has infinite memory of everything you ever said, and it makes good use of it.
Every new friend you talked about, every birthday you don’t want to miss, every place you have been to, every Italian word you asked about - it remembers, 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱.
You told Good Assistant you’re gonna go on a vacation to Italy on August 20-25 - it remembers, and on those dates it will suggest you nice Italian restaurants instead of tips on fixing a shelf in your kitchen.
Anything you’ll ask - will be answered in the context of your trip, climate, time zone.
