@volusiaschools Tell the truth. These assessments give you MONEY. If you cared about the insights they provide on grade level standards, you'd stop celebrating the results and addressing the mediocrity (being generous) that you cultivate.
@DrValleJ@volusiaschools You guys are doing tremendous work "borrowing" minutes from untested subjects to prioritize school grades, opportunizing credit retrieval and 95% testing thresholds, and aspiring to mediocrity.
@kashort5 But, but, but... Our 1.2's went to 1.3's in small groups! ๐
(Just don't pay attention to actual proficiency %, how low the bar is for a school to get an A compared to a student getting an A, how little is done to exceed mediocrity, blah blah blah...)
@kashort5@dbnewsjournal Par for the course. Maybe preventing them from speaking helps the district to skip the step where they gaslight with misinformation?
Last night, I watched the board comments from the most recent @volusiaschools school board meeting with my husband. If you haven't seen them yet, I recommend you do. I want to publicly express my appreciation for @dbbrosemer. Your comments were insightful and clearly stemmed from a genuine concern for our schools, focusing on solutions. It was refreshing to witness a board member engage in meaningful dialogue during their commentsโsomething we used to see regularly but have not for some time. I'm sorry that it seemed you didn't receive support from the rest of the board, and that at times, your contributions were dismissed or criticized. In my view, they should be more focused on engaging with you in a constructive way, incorporating the insights shared by parents, teachers, and students, as thatโs where productive dialogue can occur.
As a reminder you were elected to be different. You are fulfilling your campaign commitments. The other board members, in my opinion, ought to focus on their responsibilities and seek solutions, and share them with all of us too, rather than criticize your methods. That's what truly matters for our family. So publicly, Thank you!
