#Gender schemas are often harmful, impacting how children view themselves & the world around them. When children learn that an object is "for their gender" they are more inclined to prefer the object, which is evidence that supports the "own-gender" schema. #umassdev20#week13

Based on "draw-a-scientist" studies, as time has progressed, children still associate #scientists as male but that stereotype has decreased overtime. From 1966-1977, children drew 99.4% of scientists as male, whereas from 1985-2016, they depicted 72% as male. #umassdev20#week12
