This saying perfectly describes the behaviour of many Nigerian women who come from poor backgrounds and marry wealthy men.

When things are going smoothly, you’ll hear her showering him with sweet names: “My King 👑”, “My heaven-sent”, “My Odogwu”, “Olowo Ori mi.”

But the moment he experiences a financial setback and is struggling to get back on his feet, the same woman starts calling him “Papa Emeka”, “Papa Ola”, or even coldly refers to him as “This man.”

Worse still, if she has an ex who is doing well financially, she may secretly reach out to him for money. And if the ex is the opportunistic type, he’ll easily sleep with her.

My dear single brothers, if you are financially stable, be wise and marry a woman from a wealthy home just like Mr Eazi married Otedola’s daughter. That way, even if you face hard times, her family has the means and connections to support you and help you rise again.

Leave the broke girls for broke men to marry. This is not Nollywood, where a rich guy dramatically settles for a lash technician or makeup artist and everything ends happily ever after. Real life doesn’t work that way.
