Why do you keep ignoring the part of not being disrespectful?? Not framing trans people as predatory is very important when speaking about this topic. Trans people are not affecting women’s sports in any meaningful way at all, youth or professional. Having the decency to respect someone’s identity is not hard. Nobody on this planet was born a Christian but I’m not going to claim their belief is made up, delusional, and that they are biologically atheist. Coco didn’t call them biological Men, she didn’t treat them as a threat to youth womens sports. Sophie did, that’s the difference.
The fact he don’t even know trans women been banned for essentially 2 years goes to show this is not about sports. Niggas be so pussy to stand on they beliefs cus they know it’s just hatred, don’t want to be the bad guys. I get it though, it’s hard to stand on beliefs rooted in hatred. 🤣 they are trying to make a problem that was already addressed the past 2 years, because deep down they want trans people excluded from Earth itself.
I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect every athlete to be deeply informed about transgender issues. It’s a relatively uncommon situation in sports, and most athletes have other priorities.
That said, once you choose to speak publicly on the issue, the responsibility shifts. If you’re going to influence public opinion, you should have done the homework first.
That’s why I found Sophie’s comments irresponsible. She spoke confidently about a problem that appears to be extremely rare in youth girls’ basketball, without providing evidence that it’s a widespread issue.
Coco’s comment was thoughtful but I still agree with your point, fairness shouldn’t even be spoken about until some type of awareness of the research has been studied if they choose to speak out or provide a statement.
That would undermine her support of the trans community and I’m sure you know this.
Putting myself in her shoes I can imagine she’s probably having a hard time with this because throughout history, women’s sports has been mocked, ignored, and lacked real investment for generations. So for her, most Men acting like they have a shared interest in protecting that space is kind of confusing. I am theorizing but I can imagine she doesn’t truly trust the side trying to protect these young women because that has never been the case about any other issue, specifically Womens rights in sports.
@CraigMuzse @CheerfullyJaded @JackThompsonFOX Or the countless school shootings, you would think the protection of children would matter in that case too right? Or the familiacide that triples the amount of trans athletes??? I wonder why those issues never get brought up 🤔🤔
@Gracat382309@thefempire50@JackThompsonFOX She understands the need for fairness in women’s sports.
She doesn’t need to demean or disrespect anyone in the trans community by calling them “Men”, or “delusional”to convey that fairness is necessary.
It’s crazy you don’t actually understand the side you’re on. Coco gave a reasonable, respectful response. She has the tact that Sophie lacks you won’t see the type of response Sophie got in this case because she didn’t treat trans people as a threat like Sophie did. She stood firm that fairness needs to exist but in pursuit of that not purposely misgendering, or inadvertently attacking trans people for things they’re not doing at even a medium scale.
She is literally agreeing that the testing would be fair for women’s sports, but her not excluding them is bothering you. You don’t have to condemn trans people to stand up for women. That’s the whole point that people like you seem to keep missing. A lot of people agree with fairness, and do believe seperate leagues or divisions would not be an issue. People like you are upset because others don’t view trans people as villains.
@DanielleOc69314 @robinlundberg I suggest you read the article if you haven’t already. It was a good article, unfortunately Sophie brung this on herself. She could have declined to speak about her image as she did the question about race which was asked in the same article.
@WrestleFest90@AvidCubz@UnderdogWNBA She was never actually asked about that. She was asked why she thinks people call her MAGA Barbie. The quote about trans people came after her actual answer.
A question about race beforehand that was actually asked she declined to answer.
Firstly she was not asked about trans folk. She brought this up by herself.
Secondly she was actually asked earlier in the piece about her thoughts about the different receptions both her and players like Alyssa Thomas get for their physicality. Specifically why Sophie gets endorsements, recognition etc vs AT who receives death threats. She declined to answer..
