Honestly do not know how Kyrie has earned this reputation of a team carrier whose fallen short only bc he didn’t have help when we’ve seen him sit off in the corner twiddling his thumbs and whistling when BOS jumped KD in the 1st round in 2022 and BOS jumped Luka in the 24 Finals
Call the travel.
Gathers with his left foot planted. Right foot is the pivot. He picks it up to take the shot.
There's no way they'd ever call that in that situation though, so great shot over tough defense. Insane that it went in.
The actual truth is that it was a collective failure from everyone. The coach, Jaylen, the role players etc
- The coach failed in terms of the strategy/approach
- Jaylen failed to play at the level his role required
- The role players failed in terms of playing nowhere close to their expected level (outside of Pritchard's Game 4)
For some reason, there are fans who don't want to accept that, and instead just put it all on one thing
@tinyshinyhiney If u believe a 22 year old who had a great 1 and done season at duke and had a legendary hs career, wasn’t gonna get a 2nd shot u aren’t living in reality.
His dad didn’t need to trade for him he was gonna get another chance off pedigree. Top 10 picks get multiple chances.
This is about roles more than anything and more specifically, creator redundancy (or lack of it)
When Tatum sits, you’re basically asking Jaylen to be primary initiator with support from Derrick White/Payton Pritchard
That can work in spurts, but over playoff possessions JB is more of a play finisher than organizer, White is a connector, Pritchard boosts spacing but doesn’t bend defenses consistently
Sometimes it has felt like non-Tatum minutes see the Celtics try to mimic Tatum-ball when in reality they should be a different offense entirely
