Harsh parenting might alter kids' brains. Children whose parents often get angry at them, spank them, yell at them or shake them as a way to discipline them could be adversely affected right into their teenage years. https://t.co/JfRyH3dqSw

@lunacy_jewel It's hard for kids. They don't understand emotions and what they are feeling and they can't really articulate what's wrong. For me I guess I thought it was just normal because it was normal for me. I hope your daughter is doing OK and I'm glad her issues are being seen.
@lunacy_jewel I began struggling with depression & anxiety when I was 5 & it got worse as I got older but I was overlooked till I was 15. It was a nightmare. My parents didn't know what to do & the school system just made things worse. No one seemed to understand a child can struggle too
@EndTheStigma_ie He had been sexually abused and was afraid it would happen again. He knew he'd be safe and protected with Jesus. Adults often don't really understand how children will interpret the things they say especially when it comes to more abstract concepts.
I worked with a 5 year old that tried to kill himself by setting his house on fire. He finally got help afterward but he needed help before it got so bad. We in the US also need to take #ChildrensMentalHealth more seriously and not overlook or ignore children in need of help.
#ChildrensMentalHealthWeek The most common mental health issues in children are anxiety disorders. These children may have behavioral problems but they might not. Perfectionism in children can cause a great deal of anxiety about grades and fear of getting into trouble. #Goodkids
During #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth , If you're an adult with #mentalhealth issues, think back to your teens and childhood. Did your issues start then? How would you be now if you had gotten help then? Therapy in childhood could prevent or at least help adult issues.
#MentalHealthAwarenessMonth#MentalHealthMonth During this month and every month rememeber that many people with mental health issues recieve treatment and their medication through expanded medicaid. Don't take their mental health care away from them.
