@seangagen Dems arent deterred from voting for him bc it's either him or someone "worse" and rural GOP voters have recognized things like Medicaid expansion make for a healthier, productive state. Often times they cant see past the pro-choice Dem rhetoric which isnt present here #PMGT6410
@seangagen I also think there's potential in Kansas for a pick up. Sen Roberts isn't running for reelection and when you look at their Gov race in 2018, Kelly (D) won by nearly 5 points. No one's talking about Kansas! #PMGT6410
@seangagen I think KY and AZ will remain top priorities, esp after the results in the KY Gov election. I think GA and AL will closely follow as the South is clearly coming back into play for Dem's (NC, VA, KY, GA & FL came close in 18' governor's races) #PMGT6410
@CSTalvo@seangagen@nytimes I don't disagree. The public has a short attention span, especially those not actively engaged or working in this space. I think House Dems wanted to tie the inquiry to the 2020 elections but may have began too early... #PMGT6410
@dustines15 @seangagen@nytimes that reminds me of the "California Republicans are Ohio Democrats" narrative, while hilarious, there's certainly some truth there. #PGMT6410
@seangagen@nytimes I wanted to add this article I found from Connecticut to my post, written after last years Mid-terms. https://t.co/2XDudAuhTw #PMGT6410
@seangagen@nytimes Absolutely. &the most vulnerable Republican cong. candidates should start distancing themselves from Trump where it matters and while they can, now, in the impeachment inquiry. Being an "Independent" voice and breaking GOP leadership ranks will be the only saving grace #PMGT6410
@EBurgess21 @donpurdum@seangagen I agree with your take on anti2A rhetoric can turn rural voters off of Democrats for a lifetime. When I was working in the legislature, we switched from saying phrases like "gun control" to phrases like "gun safety" and I truly think it made a difference #PMGT6410
@donpurdum@seangagen On other issues, like the economy, I think the key is to emphasize that they are one vote away from not having access to key entitlements i.e. disability, SNAP, WIC, TANF, Medicaid, Medicare etc. that they rely on.
@donpurdum@seangagen Great question. I think the key when it comes to 2A voters is to not insinuate, even for a second, that you're trying to take away guns but rather prevent certain people from being able to access them.
@EBurgess21 @seangagen Absolutely agreed. States like North Carolina and Georgia, with similar demographics and states like Michigan and Pennsylvania with similar economies indicate to me that all is not lost. #PMGT6410
