Officer Glasco was recognized as employee of the month for October 2021. He was recognized for his outstanding efforts including conducting an extensive investigation on an Hit and Run. October was Officer Galsco's first month on solo patrol after completing his field training.

This past Tuesday, we had an opportunity to present our city council a letter of appreciation signed by all of our sworn officers for unanimously approving step pay plan. We appreciate the support.

The Hopewell Police Department is proud to announce the retirement of Narcotics K9 "Cargo." Cargo came to us out of North Carolina from Ventosa Kennels in 2010. After a successful certification in May 2011, Detective Ryan Fitzsimons and Cargo began a very rewarding and
successful career together. Cargo was certified through the Virginia Police Work Dog Association to screen vehicles, person(s), buildings, luggage, and packages. Over the 10 years of active service, Cargo was responsible for over $60,000.00 in currency seizures to include large
Hard to imagine this was 20 years ago. I was fortunate to work along and respond to this unprecedented attack with some of the finest people who did not and would not think for a second to put their own safety at peril to assist another.
I can still remember the smell of jet fuel burning to this day. We lost many on this day and dramatically changed the direction of our country. I also remember the togetherness we felt after the attacks irrespective of our preferred ideologies.
