Learning my way around kits and techniques for now and sharing my experience and excitement.
@Jenny_1884 Because spending our money is better than spending troops lives. If we do not draw a line at Russian expansionism in a country we had trilaterally agreed to defend, where do we draw it? Because the information on the use of weapons systems in Ukraine serves to improve our own.
@CcibChris We don’t have anything in the quantities, or the support for ageing airframes, to provide as dedicated aerobatics platforms. Tornados? Long gone. Harriers? A few as practice airframes for towing at Culdrose.
A little more progress on the Typhoon. Fiddly photoetch asides, the biggest time sink has been finessing the rough fit of the kit parts. Some of it goes together beautifully, whilst other parts overhang, need trimming, or have awful flash causing flush parts to not fit at all.
The added detail with etch parts so far has been fiddly but rewarding, and the kit itself (Revell’s circa 2002(2006?) 1/48 Eurofighter) has some lovely detail regularly let down with fit issues so far. I’ll continue to do what I can and we’ll see what we end up with.
The fruit of this afternoon’s labour. Thank the gods someone put me onto Mig’s ultra glue for etch parts. Loads more to do but feel like I’ve already completed a kit just with the cockpit tub.
@garyandglendah1 It’s slow setting, whilst having enough “grip” to position parts, even fiddly parts like those holding the HUD, and the film of the HUD screen. It sets (gloss) clear so it’s also excellent for clear parts. You can brush it on for large areas, or use a toothpick for precision.
Hey there gang, been a while since I posted anything. I’ve not been entirely idle, and tried some lacquer paints out on some gunpla. The new project however is the Revell 1/48 Eurofighter as the Blackjack display aircraft, and some A/M parts including Eduarda “big Ed” etch set
@Chaz01BR@Rheumatoidman@MOS6510Models@ModellersS@GarnockM Also, i have had some great success on bare metal using the games workshop little pots of paint on primer, they do a few colours from black, white and grey to reds, browns and greens
@Chaz01BR@Rheumatoidman@MOS6510Models@ModellersS@GarnockM If you do end up damaging the barrel, you could try drilling the gun body and replacing it with brass rod or some thin sprue rod? Just a thought if you do end up bending it like Beckham.
@militaryhistori If the US hadn’t left Afghan, and the Taliban/ISIL/IS/ISIS started throwing drones around, by now the US would have developed the most comprehensive, layered, and effective drone defence technology possible, or iterated an existing system to cover the CapGap to counter them.
@SimonWAtack it was an absolute delight having the chance to talk to you on Saturday. An astonishing chap with a beautiful skill honed for 60 years! Amongst being able to lay hands on some of the aircraft there, laying my eyes on your artwork was a highlight.
Absolutely tickled to see so many putting up a clips of the closing fly/pasta from Duxford this weekend. It really does hit something deep inside you seeing so much history moving forward into the years ahead with us, keeping it alive and relevant today.
