The brothers of late actor Chadwick Boseman have filed a petition in a Los Angeles court seeking the removal of his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, as administrator of his estate.
Kevin and Derrick Boseman allege that, nearly six years after the actor’s death, Ledward has failed to properly distribute the remaining assets of the estate and has continued to manage it without involving Boseman’s parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman.
According to court documents, the brothers claim a 2022 court order directed Ledward to distribute certain estate assets, including a long-term care policy valued at $40,000 to Boseman’s mother, but allege this has not been done. They also argue that several assets, including royalties, residual payments, intellectual property rights, real estate, a previously undisclosed bank account and other personal property, have not been fully accounted for or distributed.
The petition further alleges that Ledward has exercised unilateral control over Boseman’s image and intellectual property rights, allowing her to continue benefiting from his legacy while excluding other family members from decisions affecting the estate. Kevin and Derrick also claim that residual payments dating back to 2020 remain unaccounted for and that Chadwick Boseman’s parents have been prevented from pursuing business opportunities related to his estate.
