Calling the WR room “trash” is lazy. Nico Collins is a legitimate top-10 caliber WR. Tank Dell has already shown what he can do when healthy. Jayden Higgins was having a strong camp before the ACL injury and was bound to have a breakout season and Boutte gives Houston another legitimate option.

The problem with this room isn’t talent. It’s health. There’s a huge difference….

@jamcmahon86 @VonteBlegit So when Stroud wins, it’s because his defense made it easy. When Lawrence loses, it’s because his defense made it hard. At some point you’ve gotta stop moving the goalposts. There’s always another excuse when the results don’t fit the Lawrence narrative.

That’s why I said “including the playoffs” I was measuring all his games from that season. Even if we are talking regular season, you’re not making you case any better. They both dealt with terrible lines. NE was able to improve theirs, Houston didn’t. Stroud has had these issues two years in a row, which is why his numbers have not been as high as his rookie year..

A go ball is a specific type of deep ball, sure. But now we’re moving from actual data to “I don’t think I’ve seen it.” Stroud’s vertical accuracy has been one of his strengths going back to college. PFF literally gave him “Best Deep Ball” in his draft class, and then he had a 98.6 deep-passing grade as an NFL rookie.

@FalconShok @Malone12R @RapSheet Yes, Tank played 14 and Nico played 12 individually. They only played together in 9 games. That’s the entire point. Listing their individual games played doesn’t mean Stroud had both of them for 14 or even 12 games.

Stroud had a 98.6 PFF deep passing grade as a rookie, second best in the NFL. We’ve already seen him be one of the league’s best deep-ball passers when the offense around him was functioning.

Maye throws a great deep ball and had great chemistry with Boutte. I’m not disputing that. But acting like Stroud doesn’t have the accuracy to hit Boutte when we’ve literally watched him excel throwing deep in the NFL is where you lose me.

@FalconShok @Malone12R @RapSheet When has Stroud had Tank Dell for most of the season? Nico has yet to complete a full season. Diggs was out for the season when he was here. Stroud has literary had a bottom 3 WR health. Go look at the NE playoff game and tell me who the WRs were.

That actually helps make my point. Maye was a promising QB in a bad situation as a rookie, then New England improved the team around him and his production exploded.

Stroud went from 4,108 yards, 23 TDs and 5 INTs as a rookie to struggling as the situation around him deteriorated. Why are we willing to contextualize Maye’s struggles but treat Stroud’s like they happened in a vacuum?

Now Stroud has an improved line and run game. Let’s give him the same opportunity to show what he can do with a better situation around him before deciding what he is and repeating a lazy narrative

That’s a lie.

Maye had a bottom 3 offensive line with a 13th ranked run game and his numbers were 66.6% 15 TDs and 10 INTs for 2,276 yards in 13 games.

Now he has the 13th ranked offensive line with a #6 ranked rushing attack which is why you see his stats improving.

I’m not taking anything away from Maye, he’s clearly a great QB, but you his narrative over Stroud is getting extremely old. Stroud has had a bottom 3 offensive line; bottom 3 rushing attack and bottom 3 WR health for 2 years in a row now. Now you tell me what QB will excel under those circumstances.
