I think there’s a huge number of people who’ve developed these parasocial relationships with AI. Probably millions, mostly women but also men. And the tech has only existed in this form for a few years. We have no idea how dark things are going to get. Hundreds of millions of people will trade in their human relationships for AI. Little kids will be on ChatGPT, if they aren’t already, developing “friendships” with AI before they ever make a real human friend. This is not some kind of sci fi prophesy. It’s what is currently happening before our eyes. Dystopia is here. We’re in it now.
