Passion and emotion are part of what makes sports great, yet women athletes often face unfair criticism when showing it. This is even more evident for Black athletes, who face heightened scrutiny for expressing themselves.

Prejudice and negative assumptions about Black athletes often follow when they show passion and emotion, revealing a deep-seated double [triple] standard in sports. These complex intersections of identity and bias contribute to a much more difficult experience for some athletes.
