Immigrant and refugee rights organizations in the United States have issued a travel advisory for international visitors ahead of the #2026WorldCup. The organizations state that visitors, immigrants, and people of color may face harassment, arbitrary questioning, or detention due to increased immigration enforcement in the United States.
The advisory also emphasizes that supporters, journalists, and delegation members from Latin America, Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean may be disproportionately targeted because of racial profiling, language, or national origin.
It further states that trans and non-binary individuals may face additional difficulties as a result of new federal regulations requiring the declaration of “biological sex at birth” in visa and passport procedures.
The advisory also notes that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials have broad powers, warning that social media accounts may be scrutinized and electronic devices such as phones and computers may be searched upon entry into the country.
The World Cup host country usually sees a huge boost in its tourism – but in America, hotel rooms remain empty, and stadium seats un-booked.
Greed? The war in Iran? Or, is the Donald Trump effect putting people off America?

We’ve got to put an end to treating every level below D1 like it’s not worth your time.
Like it’s not something to be extremely proud of.
Playing at ANY level after high school is extremely hard, I don’t think people truly grasp that.
This is clear discrimination and political interference in sport. No team should be made to compete under conditions no other country would ever accept.
FIFA has a lot to answer for.
So much about these visa admissions difficulties for the World Cup was foretold & obvious. It’s a story about US govt policy. But also a story of FIFA hubris, mainly Infantino, who dismissed entirely legitimate media reporting on the matter repeatedly. (This from August 2025)
We all knew these situations were going to happen, and so did FIFA. Yet they still allowed the World Cup to go ahead in the U.S. They are not receiving anywhere near the level of scrutiny they should.
Shame on Trump & his ICE goons! 2,000+ workers at SoFi Stadium—cooks, dishwashers, bartenders—voted 96% to STRIKE over poverty wages & ICE presence at the World Cup
FIFA’s World Cup was built on exploited labor & deportation threats. No food, no drinks, no Cup!

When commercial rights start shaping basic fan experience decisions, it's worth paying attention. The FIFA water-bottle story sits right at that tension point. https://t.co/3eStOuYBvC
No country should be allowed to host the World Cup while imposing discriminatory rules on qualified and participating teams.
This ought to be a very basic requirement.
this is gonna cause so much unnecessary stress for this team i genuinely feel bad for them
if the us didn't want to treat ALL countries the same then they shouldn't have accepted to host an INTERNATIONAL tournament full stop
Story @TheAthleticFC
The International Sports Press Association (AIPS) has written to FIFA claiming that “many” Iranian and African journalists have been denied the necessary visas to cover the World Cup in the United States.

Few sports have experienced flag football’s level of momentum in such a short period of time. By 2028, the sport could feature an Olympic tournament, an NCAA championship, expanded high school participation nationwide, a thriving youth pipeline, and a growing professional presence. Join the momentum!

Considering the imbalance of wealth between the NCAA and athletes, the provision in the Protect College Sports Act allowing the prevailing party in litigation to recover their attorneys’ fees is just a thinly disguised way to prevent athletes from suing to protect their rights.
While their demands include higher wages and job security, the main reason for the potential walkout stems from the presence of Immigration and Customs Enforcement at the international soccer tournament. https://t.co/wcbn1KcSOB
🚨 NCAA Olympic Sports Elimination Alert 🚨
Division 2 Missouri Western State University will "pause" its Women's Tennis program for the 2026-27 academic year.
In just the past 15 weeks, 25 NCAA Tennis programs have been eliminated or "paused" (2 were later reinstated)
⚽️ 🇺🇸 Fans worldwide struggle to get US visas as World Cup kickoff nears
