Yes, this is fascism.
For years, historians and experts were cautious about using the f-word to describe today's events. But that hesitation is gone now. 🧵
The blood that @elonmusk and his DOGE-cronies have on their hands because of the (illegal) foreign aid suspension.
200.000+ people not receiving their daily HIV medication.

If you have a few moments to listen to this interview as a parent with your child.
Possible one of the best post race interviews I have ever watched #PlayOn
These mindless riots are doing untold damage to the UK’s reputation right across the world. And yet the secret sympathisers still say ‘Of course I disapprove of what’s happening, but…’ And then they make the racists’ case for them.
We’ve just had an election. We voted for c. 500 left/liberal MPs out of 650. That’s what our country wants. Not the vicious, bigoted uselessness of the populist right.
These hate riots are the work of a violent, racist minority whipped up by the losers. #FarageRiots#ToryRiots
So reform - having campaigned on a platform of law and order - have somehow managed to blame the police for a riot in which fifty police officers were injured following viral disinformation which they propagated. Go figure.
There is a tiny minority of far right thugs determined to take part in attacks on minorities & the police & willing to hijack tragedies to drive hate.
The question is who radicalised them?
If you’re in any doubt, it might be worth checking who is making excuses for them now.
2015 UKIP + Tory 49.5%
2024 Reform + Tory 38%
RW vote share down by 11.5% points.
Don’t get me wrong, we mustn’t underestimate the damage he can do
But please can the press stop making out this result is something that it’s not
Same rhetoric, different badge. That’s it

Yes it’s concerning how many people buy into his divisive, populist rhetoric
No, that can’t be ignored
But this isn’t new
It’s not the start of something!
It’s broadly in line with the 2015 result 🤷♀️
In fact, when you look at the Right wing vote in general…..

OMG 😱
Farage’s party came second in 120 constituencies
They got 12.6% of the votes - 3rd highest vote share
They got 2 MPs
While the winning party only got 36.9%
Oh no, wait a sec - that was UKIP in 2015!

It’s the greatest privilege to be asked to serve as Home Secretary.
The first duty of Government is to keep our country & communities safe and our borders secure.
The work to get neighbourhood police back on our streets & to strengthen our border security starts now.
Timpson’s are well-known for employing ex-offenders to help them back into work. They pay their tax. They value their staff. And then there’s this.
CEO James Timpson (who’s also Chair of the Prison Reform Trust) is the new Prisons Minister. Great appointment
