@ukads3 It may have been a different time, but these aren't the sort of adverts to get nostalgic about. There's a reason why PG Tips eventually discontinued the use of live animals in their advertising.
@soniasodha FPTP is predicated on the idea that people are voting for an individual candidate, not a party. There's an argument that it became obsolete as soon as universal suffrage happened and party politics became the dominant factor.
Maybe Alan Partridge was onto something after all. #ThisTime#MontyDon#AlanPartridge

This is such a sinister story. Is the threat of antisemitic violence now so great that @britishmuseum cannot protect its own guest speakers from racist attacks?
Thanks for joining us for this Top Of The Pops from 12 November 1999. Expect about 50 tweets while it airs. NB this is not an official/BBC account. #TOTP
I still maintain that "Incredible" by M Beat feat General Levy is an example of what the UK should have had as a Eurovision entry back in the 90s. Forget trying to chase points, instead be original. Imagine the reaction to "Wicked, wicked, jungle is massive..." #Eurovisiรณn2026
This is what we might call "low grade" antisemitism. Not violent, & not directly aimed at someone Jewish in the vicinity.
But stuff like this is so utterly toxic to the body politic of a nation. When this happens & no-one present calls it out, this country gets a little worse.
