Thanks to the current golfers that assisted with feeder last night & help with the record numbers of participants.
Several parents mentioned how much they appreciated current golfers helping on the course.
I'm thankful for the efforts to give back to future Howell golfers.
Kolton Kijanko has had quite a week. Not only was he All-State & helped the team earn 3rd place.
Last Thursday he also became the 2026 Howell Cup Champion after winning on the 1st playoff hole.
He is a first time winner of the intrasquad match play tourney that started in 2008.
Thanks to all of the families that make our program special. State is a memorable experience & our families always make it amazing, but they went above & beyond!
Thanks to @FHVikings for taking pics!
Thanks to the best assistant coaches: John Miller, Zack Gorman & Mike Muench
Special shoutout to Cohen Vierling & Nick Halterman
Cohen Vierling became the first 4 time State Qualifier since 2012.
Unfortunately, he was unable to play at State due to injury.
Nick Halterman was prepared and stepped up to fill in.
Both exemplify the #WeBeforeMe attitude.
There was a lot of adversity this week with postponements, delays, injuries, tourney changes, weather, etc.
We preach controlling what we can control & these guys did that and then some, including filling the down time.
They represented Howell with class & made us all proud.
This year Francis Howell Golf had three golfers earn All-State by finishing in the top 15!
Isaac Kelley (Sr.)
Kolton Kijanko (Jr.)
Ethan Mottert (Jr.)
We have a rich history & tradition in the program, but this is the first time we've had 3 All-State golfers in one season.
The team played awesome individually as well in tough conditions that included rain & a drenched course
All 5 golfers were in top 60 golfers in tourney!
11th: Isaac Kelley (74)
11th: Kolton Kijanko (74)
11th: Ethan Mottert (74)
33rd: Nick Halterman (76)
59th: Andrew Vaughn (80)
Our 3rd place finish was the best of any public school in the state in Class 5 (largest class in MO).
It also tied with the 2011 team as the best finish in school history (as far as I know).
Simply put, this team made history and cemented itself in Francs Howell Golf history!
The season started in March with hard work & preparation.
Two weeks ago 60+ teams in Class 5 competed at Districts for the chance to make it to State.
Yesterday, Francis Howell competed in a one day rain shortened tournament & finished as the Class 5 3rd place team in 2026!
Due to weather and course conditions, the first round of the Class 4 & 5 Boys Golf Championships has been postponed to Tuesday. The Class 4 & 5 Championships will now be shortened to 18 holes and played entirely on Tuesday.
Play will begin at 8 a.m. with the same tee times and pairings previously scheduled.
We will continue to monitor weather and course conditions and make any necessary updates.
We have the culmination of the 2026 version of the Howell Cup intrasquad tournament.
Ethan Mottert vs. Kolton Kijanko for all of the glory and the chance to write their name in the Francis Howell Golf History books.
We sent 12 golfers (2 teams of 6 golfers divided into pairs) to the Troy Scramble today. A fun time was had by all!
Team Blue shot Even
Team Gold shot +5
Andrew Vaughn and Gannon Harris were individual tournament co-champs shooting -6 as a duo!
All 5 golfers were below the individual cut line & would have qualified even if we didn't get team spot
Ethan Mottert 73: 3rd (All-District)
Kolton Kijanko 76: 12th (All-District)
Andrew Vaughn 76: 12th (All-District)
Isaac Kelley 77: 14th (All-District)
Cohen Vierling 78: 18th
Francis Howell Golf played in the MSHSAA Class 5 District 2 tournament at Tanglewood.
Our boys survived a tough field to shoot 302, earning 2nd place, & qualifying as a team for the MSHSAA Class 5 State Championship!
We'll be competing at State in Columbia (May 18-19).
4 out of 5 Francis Howell JV golfers finished in top 12 of JV GACs
Andrew Vaughn was JV GAC South Tournament Champion with a 77! Would have been 9th in Varsity GACs
Jonas Blankenship was 2nd (79)
Blake Brown - 80 (4th)
Aiden Kohn - 86 (12th)
Hudson Linnenbringer - 87 (13th)
JV won the JV GAC South tourney with a 322…17 shots clear of 2nd place!
JV not only won the tourney, but they haven’t lost a GAC South match since 2017!
Your 2026 GAC South Golfer of the Year is Kolton Kijanko!
He came into the tourney leading in conference points & solidified GOY with his 3rd place GAC finish
This is impressive based on depth of our program & conference strength
He is our 2nd consecutive Golfer of Year!
GAC South All-Conference honors are based on season long points acquired in matches/GACs
We had 3 Francis Howell golfers make All-GAC out of 12 spots
1st team (6 spots):
Kolton Kijanko (Jr.)
Isaac Kelley (Sr.)
2nd team (6 spots):
Ethan Mottert (Jr.)
Varsity shot 294 at GACs in a great tourney that was 10 shots clear of 2nd.
All five golfers shot in the 70s.
Isaac Kelley - 71 (T-1st, lost scorecard playoff)
Kolton Kijanko - 72 (3rd)
Nick Halterman - 74 (5th)
Ethan Mottert - 77 (9th)
Cohen Vierling - 79 (15th)
Varsity & JV played in their respective GAC South tournaments today at The Landings at Spirit Golf Club.
Both teams won their tourneys & secured season championships based on points accumulated.
This is Varsity’s 6th & JV’s 11th consecutive conference titles!
