On Dylan Larkin wanting traded, here’s a weird reality for one of most storied franchises in professional sports history.
The Detroit Red Wings are now among the least attractive teams to play for.
List of some reasons (not necessarily in a particular order):
1. The VP/GM is in no rush to win (despite playoff drought) and is hesitant to ever be aggressive to truly go for it.
2. VP/GM is a legend with a very close relationship with ownership, complicating ever fifing him.
3. The fanbase holds the franchise to a past championship standard they aren’t close to meeting. They’ve capped off multiple recent seasons booing the team.
3. You play in a tough division that makes getting in playoffs even harder.
4. The roster is flawed and lacks a legit star to carry the team and be a true face of the franchise - Larkin is a really good player but better suited as a No. 2 on a contender.
I'm not sure why so many are surprised Jon Cooper won the Jack Adams. While you can definitely make a case for the others in a very close race, it always felt like Cooper was going to get it as a career achievement honor for being snubbed of it in years past.
Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator (and former Steelers assistant coach) Brian Flores was selected as the 2026 George Halas Award winner by the Professional Football Writers of America (@PFWAwriters).
Flores, the 58th Halas Award winner, is the first member of the Vikings franchise to receive the honor from the PFWA.
I can't blame Larkin at all. He may have once dreamed of playing for the Red Wings, but he's done it in literally the worst period for the franchise in its history. He has to start being selfish and make winning for himself his top priority, especially after the team just collapsed.
After grabbing a game on the road to open the series and continue such a dominant run through the playoffs, the Knicks are fully in "don't blow it" territory now.
People can talk about it all day, but the Steelers aren't going to trade T.J. Watt. You can make the case they should if you don't believe they're truly contenders, but they won't do it. No way.
Aside from what anyone believes when it comes to Alex Highsmith's absence at minicamp, it's pretty reasonable to wonder how awarding the backup a mega deal will make the veteran feel and if his days in Pittsburgh are now numbered.
Every franchise has been guilty of spin at some point, so while this could be fully legit and Burt is great what he does, there will be people who won't believe it.
But as much as I wouldn't be surprised if Highsmith is moved, Burt isn't going to flat lie about an illness.
The game once known as the Weiser Lock Copper Bowl, Insight-dot-com Bowl, Guaranteed Rate Bowl and more is officially taking on the Cactus Bowl name and headed away from Phoenix to Tempe. One of the Big Ten’s bowl tie-ins and against a Big 12 school.
