Chairperson of the Hunt Saboteurs Association
The UKs leading Anti-Hunt organization, working directly in the field to protect wildlife. Comments/Rants my own.
The government consultation on banning so-called 'trail' hunting is open. We get one shot to get this right, to end this barbarism for good. There is no rush to respond. The consultation runs until June 18th. Our guidance on how to respond here:

Hunting lobbyists are already alluding to using drag hunts as the next smokescreen once the government finally bans so-called “trail” hunting — the mythical activity that instead results in the intentional searching, hunting and killing of wild animals.
Two hunts have already converted to the Master of Draghounds & Bloodhounds Association - including The Crawley and Corsham Hunt - a hunt with multiple Hunting Act convictions.

@marilynbest69@Protect_Wldlife I find this philosophy annoying, as it allows people to sit back and do nothing, as Karma will do the job at some unspecified time.

For just £20 a year you can become a part of the Hunt Saboteurs Association and your support will directly help to save our wildlife.
As well as actively being out in the field using non-violent direct action to save wildlife, and evidencing the sickening extent of illegal hunting, sabs are also working hard behind the scenes to ensure we get a watertight ban on hunting.
As well as supporting over sixty affiliated groups, as part of your membership you will also receive a subscription to our HOWL magazine which is published three times a year. It includes exclusive group news as well as articles and a historical look at the HSA and the work we do.

𝙏𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙠 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙚𝙙 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩.
Remember when the Hunting Office (now the BHSA) admitted that 'trail hunting' has always been a smokescreen. In 2020 the HSA published leaked training webinars advising hunt masters how to effectively break the law.
Laying a trail was referred to as 'Plan B' for when sabs turned up and masters were encouraged to make it look like a fox hadn't been deliberately hunted so they could form some sort of defence.
By their own admission hunts have never abided by the law and enough is enough. There is just under four weeks to complete the government consultation into banning 'trail hunting' make sure you've had your say.

As mink & otter hunts take to the water, Hunt Sabs are appealing to you - our eyes and ears in the countryside - for information.
The summer bloodsport season is well underway, with these hunts taking to the nation’s waterways from April to October to target mink and otter.
Whether it’s a post on social media or gossip overhead in a pub, no piece of information is too small to be of interest, and we treat all sources with 100% confidentiality.
If you hear a hunt is going to take place, or you’re out in the countryside and suspect you see or hear one of these hunts meeting or in progress, (eg. a collection of suspicious vehicles or hear a hunting horn and hounds on a river), then let Hunt Sabs know ASAP!

The U.K. Government are in the process of banning these vile contraptions. Snares are already illegal in Scotland and Wales, and are set to become illegal in England. Some types of snares (locking snares) are already illegal, but even free-running snares can become rusted or twisted and trap non-target animals, and can cause immense suffering as they pull tighter as the captured animal in panic tries to pull away.
These snares were recently found on the Welbeck Estate - a “prestigious” pheasant and partridge shoot which was even patronised by the then Prince of Wales, King Charles. These were also illegally set on badger runs and you can see a badger in the image perilously close to the snare.
Vile anti-coagulant poisons - which cause excruciating internal bleeding - were also found, alongside poisoned dead rodents ready to be ingested by scavenger species. Fenn traps not set in boxes - risking targeting non-target wildlife.

On Saturday 9th of May, The Badger Trust CEO Nigel Palmer reminded people that Badgers are the forgotten victims of hunting.
In an article by The Badger Trust Nigel states "“Terriermen working for hunts, often seen using quad bikes, block badger setts to force foxes into the open rather than allowing them to escape underground. They also send terriers into setts and dig out foxes, which is illegal. If hunts were truly following a scent trail, terriermen would have no role.”
The article also says, "of all the crimes committed against badgers, approximately 16% relate to the illegal blocking of setts, the majority of which are linked to fox hunting. This is especially significant given that hunting activity takes place over only five months each year from November to March."
This figure is likely to be much higher because as we know all too well most wildlife persecution takes place well away from prying eyes and there is no doubt a lot more cases that aren't reported.

Eggesford Hunt Terrier men charged with interfering with a badger sett among a “raft of charges”:
Thomas Bounsall, 31, of Hessary View, Princetown on Dartmoor, and Jake Crabb, 29, of Penpont View, Altarnun near Launceston, each face three charges from the same day.
They have been charged with interfering with a badger sett by damaging it, secondly by obstructing an entrance and thirdly causing a dog to enter it with intent or being reckless as to whether their actions would have that consequence.
Bounsall appeared before Barnstaple Magistrates' Court on Friday and pleaded not guilty to the charges which related to an alleged incident at Shears Wood near Riddlecombe, Devon, in November 2024.
Crabb did not appear but his lawyer said he too would be denying the charges.
The magistrates set a date in October for the trial to be heard.
